Haven't really seen much of this Moult guy to be honest - is he really the worldbeater that everyone's making him out to be?

If you want a number 9 who'll score goals we already have that in Rooney. He's netted 20 goals in each of the last three seasons. But people don't like him because he doesn't contribute enough to the rest of the play. If you get a 9 whose better at the link up play etc it probably means he's not going to score the goals that a poacher would.

Essentially what we're looking for is a more mobile version of Rooney. We're going to pay £300k max for a player, particularly given the fact we're out of Europe already. Can't really see us getting an improvement on what we've got for that money, unless we take a punt on someone and get lucky. I think we'll persevere with Rooney, Maynard and Storey until January window and buy then if needs be.

He started the game and got subbed on 85 minutes, never scored but set up the first goal.

My mistake Rico I see that now, (must be old age and the eyesight is failing)
I would be very happy if we made a decent cash offer plus Stockley to bring him to Pittodrie, really think he would do a job for us. Getting less impressed with Maynard every time I see him, seems to run around and huff and puff and heaven knows we have plenty that would fall into that category over the years

We may have to pay cash for Moult then pay Motherwell to take Stockley off our hands

My thoughts too. I can't fault his energy and desire to press defenders and keepers. But I had hoped, and still do hope, for more from him technically and tactically.

Last night there were several moments (at least 3) where our midfielders needed an outball on the counter attack and Maynard was just standing static between 2 centre halfs instead of offering a run into a channel where there was acres of open space. It just looked like an obvious run that a mobile striker would make. But he didn't and the ball ends up ping-pinging around the congested midfield.

Has DM publically stated we want Moult or are even in the market for a striker? I would hope that he could identify that we have strikers who aren't firing. Granted, Rooney is injured, but his back-ups haven't impressed much. I think Storey deserves a chance, but I'm not convinced on Maynard and Stockley is as useful as Anne Franks drum kit. I would be happy to offload Stockley and maybe even Storey to bring in a quality striker. I would ditch Maynard, but he has only just arrived and needs/deserves time to prove his worth at least.

Also noticed he's very very right footed, doesn't like a ball coming in on his left at all. He had a chance last night that he couldn't adjust his body too and took to long trying to let the ball run through to his right.

    He looks a waster though.

    He's getting his chance.
