    Chinese Billionaires

Set to buy my club Barnsley with the deal set to be completed by the end of the month .

The consortium seem to be credible people who already own French club Nice and are set to compete in the champions league for the first time this season .

The present owner Patrick Cryne and his family will retain a 20% stake .

Some mixed reactions over here , from bring it on to what the hell do they want with us and the smelling of rats .

Just wondering what reaction you millers would have to this if your owner was considering selling the club to investors of this nature .

Is this the only realistic option to remain as a competitive club in today's championship or are we about to sell our heart n soul to the devil .

I'd be really interested in your views guys , as you can imagine this one's come from left field to say the least and we are all pretty stunned by it .

Not sure about this one mate but good luck.I am a bit of a traditionalist at my age & like you say it will be they end imho of the good old Barnsley we know. Will they want instant success throwing loads of money at it,a high profile manager. Its the longevity of this if they get fed up who then comes in with the same amount of money to carry it on are do you go back to where you came. For me its a no,that said a bit more money to compete on a level playing field would be nice but not too fast.I think the young ones will love it but me no.

Wouldn't go as far as saying selling soul to devil but I don't like the idea of a foreign investor purely for the fact that when they get bored of your club your left worse off than when you sold it to them a prime example of that is charlton. Don't get me wrong if they are motivated to make your club better for some reason it can be a good thing and it can happen where it helps the club grow like Leicester city but more often than not these billionair investors from over seas get board and cut ties with the club without selling it on ( and to be fair they don't exactly need the money so selling the club on is never a priority, perfect example of that is Blackburn.

    Short term it's fabulous idea
Long term it will f your club over

Kind of with Silly on this, i'd wonder what their ulterior motive was in buying into a team like Barnsley, don't take that the wong way, i mean an unfashionable South Yorkshire club, i'd say the same if it was us, i often think that if something seems too good to be true then it usually is, if it was us, i'd be worried for the long term.

Hope it works for you but I do worry with these billionaire investors what happens when they get bored of that shiny new toy?

Yes pal,i would also eye it with suspicion, but if it was a genuine reason to take over Barnsley, with the right intentions and to invest with moving your club forward, then why not, hope it does work out for you, good luck.

Basically it's franchise football in another disguise.

Buy Oakwell knock it down for redevelopment, build a new ground in the Dearne Valley, rename club the Dearne Valley Reds and all of the real fan base and heritage becomes a distant memory

    Good luck

The owner Patrick Cryne is under real pressure to sell the club , he's sadly terminaly ill and his family don't want to keep the club other than hold a 20% stake .

This is likely to be the only deal open to us and obviously someone needs to own the club .

It's a totally different scenario to selling the club at a risk and retiring to the sunshine .

Many of us are pyssed off at having to sell our better players just to remain solvent and it's clearly having an effect on the field given our results since January .

Without wanting to sound like we have some god given right we expect to see championship football and feel that's where our natural home is .

To sustain that requires bucks these days or we lose the inevitable fight and become standard league one with the occasional season in the championship .

That's our dilemma , we are not expecting getting bank rolled to the PL just someone to sign the cheques and keep us competitive in the championship .
