I don't think Vokes,Ward,Hendrick,Brady & Walters would agree.Down here in Wales there are a lot of Welsh supporters, including me,really looking forward to tonight's game.I think the Republic of Ireland supporters will also be looking forward to their game against Serbia.Depending on results there could be a massive last game in the Group when Wales host the Republic here in Cardiff. What was the score again after 85 mins Malta v England?

What a boring break, I'd agree with Dave Thornley in that the powers that be look more to the money than anything else, not to mention having a qualifier for the world cup so near the transfer window closing.

Dave's rhetorical question is just that as there is no answer, money has ruined our favourite national sport and our International team and it cannot be rectified.

The England Manager who is in place, The dire FA who appointed him, and at least 2/3 players who were in the team(s) for these qualifiers tells me how poor we are, what has Tom Heaton to do to get into the team, he's playing very well yet has to sit and watch his counter part who has had 2/3 woeful PL games and is prone to many mistakes, its ridiculous and shows bad Management of the highest order.

Dave is happy with our transfer window, each to their own as I am disappointed.

If the media get their way --and they usually do -- Tom will be getting the push with Butland and Pickford being the new blue eyed boys on the block.
English football has been going downhill for years and this has been hastened since the emergence of the PL.
Personally, I would rather watch football where tackling is looked upon as an art and is allowed without players going to ground because they 'felt contact' -- everyone was more aware of exactly what constituted offisde, players actually wanted to perform and did so on mudheaps some weeks.
I know --the young guns will say that we just thought the game was better and that it is far superior these days and we are deluded to think otherwise, however, I remain unconvinced that the game is better now than it was.

Heaton would have saved the Slovakian goal last night, no problem...

    Attachment 6404

How is Hart keeping the jersey?

The same reason that Southgate got his job.Their faces fit nicely within the incompetent FA`s agenda.

Agreed with this completely, unfortunately for Tom he's at the wrong end of the age bracket and
He also plays for an unfashionable club ( in their eyes).

He'd be better stepping away and telling Southgate imo, he's a spineless yes man and I'm
    Guessing wouldn't want the confrontation.

I don't think it will change ever, the whole set up - selection process is flawed and will remain so

Sadly it's all about the money here and football secondly or worse.

I read the other day the Germans when we beat them 5-1 invested in grass roots football massively
To the same scale we did with a national stadium, they are now the best in the world and we are
Let's just say a million miles away from that.

Joey Barton had it right on Talk Sport - people just not interested in England anymore due to numerous
Issues - some we have mentioned above and some others.

AS I watched the match on ITV it became obvious that all these issues are coming home to roost.Stands were half empty for a so called must win match. An incompetent `yes`man for a manager who everybody can see through.Players picked because of who they play for and celeb status.Passed off the pitch in the first 30 minutes.Same old tactics 2-1 lead then sit back.I was actually hoping that Slovakia would equalise.
It will be the same inevitable story in Russia. We wont make it past the group stage. Then `yes`man will be replaced by another spineless.passionless `yes` man.The only manager that could do anything with the England squad is a manager that can get the maximum out of a group of technically inferior players.........er..........better stop there. Then again,Sean is the Burnley manager so he is a non-starter.Thank God.
The FA is and always has been the problem not the solution. They are either incompetent or much worse corrupt.
