The average temperature on Earth is about 61 degrees F (16 C). But temperatures vary greatly around the world depending on the time of year, ocean and wind currents and weather conditions. Summers tend to be warmer and winters colder. Also, temperatures tend to be higher near the equator and lower near the poles.

Maybe I am not understanding what you are saying Old-Pie?
Degrees Celsius and Fahrenheit are artificial constructs and you are saying that 1 deg rise ie 10C to 11C is 10%. If you had taken the Kelvin scale where zero is absolute zero then 10C is 283K and 1 deg rise goes to 284K a rise of 0.35%. Quoting rise of temperature in % terms is flawed. If someone could calculate (they probably have tried*) the total world heat and see how that changed then quoting the % rise would be more meaningful.

* Quick google brings up https://skepticalscience.com/graphics.php?g=46 which is a bit scary though I'd like to see it over 500yrs. When I get a bit of time I'll look more closely at that site.
