McClean for Gibbo when leading 2-1 ???

What was all that about? Was Gibbo injured ? (As an aside, I thought he had a decent game)
    Nyom didn’t look interested ?
We became dreadfully unbalanced in the latter stages ( notwithstanding Matty’s Injury )
Positives undoubtedly Sammy and I thought Kanu looked threatening. Johnny as ever solid...but his coolness worries me to death.
Victory over Palace required...actually essential !!

the easy fix was Evans moving to LB which is what Puils would have done and Gmac in evans place, what in the world was GM thinking?

I wouldn't put the blame too much on Megson...only his second game and we aint lost yet. The whole team were not brilliant in the second half.

Have to admit, I found McLean for Gibbs a strange substitution unless he was injured. Having said this, for a side who have a reputation for being defensively well organised and solid, this season we have looked the complete opposite. Whoever takes over, and it looks like Pardew, they have a big job on their hands.

I've seen nothing of yesterday's game but I have come to the conclusion that Gibbs, although a breath of fresh air in many ways, is something of a liability at left back. He might be better in midfield in front of a proper left back. That means playing Nyom or Brunt at left back which is only feasible when Dawson & Brunt are fit. Not that I'm happy with either of them at full back. Neither are the "proper" left back, indeed I rate Nyom lower than Gibbs as full back. So I haven't really got the answer.
I guess that rules me out of the job.

To be fair, I consider Gibbs a decent left back who is prepared to go forward as opportunities present themselves. Nyom on the other hand does not install confidence when defending and offers us the McClean type rush up the wing when going forward. Dawson clearly missed.

Gibbs is a quality left back. Nyom, on the other hand, is just embarrassing. He cannot tackle, gets caught out of position too often and his running back is just laughable. Surely there must be a taxi waiting for him in January!

think we should try to off load Nyom to the Dings as Nuno would surely turn him into the next Carlos Alberto if you listen to how hes transformed Conor Coady and Matt Doherty into world class players from their WM phone in fans

For me it was a case of the Good the Bad and the Ugly
    The Good
Good to see us having more of the ball
Most of the first 11 had at least a good game
Good – actually excellent from Sam Field
I actually thought we may actually win a game for a change – it felt good for a while at least
    The Bad
    Bad defending for first goal
    Bad luck for the second
Bad free kick and passing from Krychowiak nearly cost us
Bad crossing and tackling from Mclean did cost us

    The Ugly
Mclean is a liability – from my viewpoint first impression was a red and a penalty for his ugly tackle

When Nyom first came into the side I was quite impressed and he soon became a fans' favourite. Yes, his attacking qualities were superior to his defensive play but he proved to be adequate in this department. However, this season he has been poor, as he was last night. The old adage,'You don't appreciate what you've got until you lose it', comes to mind. I'm referring to Dawson of course!
