    Before pboro complains....

Under Pardew was a constant hammerings 4-nils in the first 25mins against city and we had a lot better squad then.

We can be proud today, even in defeat IMO.

It was always going to be about limiting their chances; no matter how you play them, they will create chances and more often than not score. Sure they could've scored a few more goals, but we managed to do some decent defensive work (with the occassional blunders of course) and keep ourselves in the game.

I felt we should've gone for more counters in the first half, but the end of second half proved to me that Rafa made the right choice in charging and attacking when City players were tired and only one up. A little more of luck on Gayle's header, and we would've taken the point. Now it's time to start looking at what we can do to beat Brighton!

anybody who has watched city play so far this season, or anybody who has watched us so far this season, could have no complaints whatsoever about what they seen tonight.

total hard work, followed Rafa's gameplan to the letter and came closer than most have done, to stopping the juggernaut.

I was at the Etihad 2 yrs ago when we lost 6-1 and I know which performance was most effective.

Ah, mate, there might be at least 3 ‘different’ voices trying to tell you this was a bad result, or there was a bad plan for the manager.

I agree, and to restrict Citeh to 1-0 is a result better than most Premier teams will hit this season.

Being honest here-I know the reasons for it, and I get it, and maybe if we'd had a go we would have been torn apart, etc, etc, but the first half hour it was embarrassing to be a Newcastle supporter.

But, once we took the appalling and half-arsed Aarons and the willing but shite Joselu off, I'm very proud of the way we had a go at them. We showed heart, spirit, determination and could have even sneaked a point. We could have been absolutely mullered and the fact that we weren't, coupled with the performance against West Ham, gives me a lot more confidence that we'll have a better second half of the season.

And fair play to Dummett-to come back into a game like that and do well like he did....he deserves a lot of credit.

Embarrass compared to what? They have averaged 3+ goals a game this season, and we had real chances to make this game a draw.

No, I know. It's not even a complaint. It wasn't how much better Man City were, it was how negative we were.

Like I say, i get it, and it almost paid off but it was shocking to watch.

I get what you're saying, but losing 6-1 to them (when we have it a right go for 44 mins) two years ago. was harder for me to watch.

I thought that was a good battling display tonight.

It was, Mick-after the first half hour.

Maybe 'chastening' is a better word but it's how it felt sitting there watching it.
