Unless we play one of them in the 10 role, I don't think we can have both Merino and Shelvey in the same side because neither of them does the holding role. If I had to choose, I'd go for Merino because he works harder and has more of an all-round game to offer.

Ditto. Having said that, I'd much rather see Shelvey in the 10. role than say Diame or Perez.

and then i would have moaned as we simply didnt try

i praised the effort for the west ham game and the attacking we did

we arent that bad going forward
we have taken the lead in several games

what we cant do is what everyone keeps telling me rafa is great at sorting which is defend

im honestly beginning to feel rfa cant sort the defence out without 11 behind the ball

and cant get a team to play some kind of offensive footy whilst defending

if we had lost 6-0 giving it a go and contributing something to the game i would not have moaned many have been taken apart by them and teams a lot better than us
there would be no embarrassment in that

what was embarrasing is the way we played from the start

if it had been a boxing match the ref would have stopped the fight as we offered no punches

if we had thrown a few he would have let the fight go on

many of our fans made their minds up on the outcome and went long before the end
So if we had lost 6-0 giving it a go then got relegated on goal difference you would feel justified in accepting that.

On the other hand had Rafa saved us from relegation by that result then by nature of your post you would be unhappy.

Whats Saivet done to upset Benitez ? he had a great game after his early mistake against West ham yet nowhere to be seen v man city and now today, Oh maybe he has got a bad back as well Mbemba was our best defender on boxing day but dropped again what a shock.

I think it's a good team out today.

Attacking with solid defensive players (in theory). I'd prefer Elliott in goal but injuries happen unfortunately.

No team with Joselu in it can be called good

    Watch him score now

It can be called good. He does good link up play and has actually panicked their defence once today but yes he is supposed to score, which fails at miserably

if we have rafa in position and we go down i wouldnt blame him for conceding 6 against city
i would blame him for not winning games at home to the klikes of brighton
