It’s what Stallard was saying before Tuesdays game. I posted it on my way back.
Let’s say we have a budget of 200k, wages and possible transfer fee, we get a player in who is a smidge above average. Let’s say we win against Swansea and Hardy doubles the above figure. Is it better to invest 400k in one top player or 2 above average players?
I suppose it depends massively on who has been targeted and whether the current budget allows us to go for our No.1 target or that is dependant in tomorrow.

Right now, I'm thinking there may well be NO business. Defeat tomorrow and I make that a near certainty. However, I'm fairly confident Notts can pull off a draw so that's more gate money.

If that turns out to be the case then we will start sliding down the league so then the gates will decrease.

We have to bring at least 2 players in as we have let 3-4 go out in the last few weeks we would need to have zero injuries to put a decent team on the pitch.

I think we will sign a few players by Monday.

Should Notts transfer dealings be based on the outcome of one game ?

I get the extra revenue bit but there are 3 working days left to sort out the glaring shortcomings of the team.

Can we afford to be saying - if we get through let's call target A if we don't let's call target B

A dangerous game in my humble opinion.

No of course not that would be a crazy idea and its not one I think we are trying to do either.

My guess is we are after a player/s who is perhaps keeping his options open as late as possible i'd also like to think we have a few more irons in the fire so to speak in case any moves breakdown.

Live on telly against Swansea, Crewe and Chesterfield, it's a grand chance to impress floaters, we could be flushed with success or back to bog standard.

I agree with sidders but for no other reason than a gut feeling.
Transfer window opened and we were points clear in second place but with just a hint of a loss of form. THAT was the time to nail players, not banking on cash from the cup and a last minute attempt to get players. January is not good for quality players at the best of times but all the quality available would normally be signed early on. What's left? Players deemed not quite good enough, out of contract players (who are normally out of contract for a reason) and old boys that are looking for a last wage.
I would love to be proven wrong but I doubt the players we need to really push on are sitting at home waiting for AH to cash the FA cheque.
    Just a line of thought.
