Hope so aucks because I am not a fan of square pegs in round holes
If you have a centre half play a centre half not a left back in that role granted he looked good the past few games but is he the answer as back up?I am not so sure.

Me, neither, actually, Robin. It's a bit like Bennett as a holding midfielder. I keep expecting it to go pear-shaped.
I have to say, though, most of Mowbray's experiments seem to have paid off so far.
    Fingers crossed.
With these loans, could Wharton be brought back quickly if we had an emergency?

Mulgrew should be back after the Plymouth game, Lenihan is about a week away. In a few games time Mowbray will have a huge decision. As Bell will not be dropped from this team now. Williams could very well end up being benched, which he is so unlucky to find himself, as he has performed so well all season. But that's the thing with improving your side, some will get left out, without doing much wrong. Wharton needed game time, so it made perfect sense to let him go. Ward was going to cost a game or two had he played, and we hadnt strengthened.

Williams! Your the only attending fan I've read not highlighting him as a weak link champs. Why is it only you that thinks he's had a great season?

Maybe getting positive results clouds your vision somewhat. Are you a little excitable and cannot see rovers have won many games in an unconvincing fashion?

It will be very difficult to drop Williams, but I agree that we are faced with that possibility. I have heard the suggestion that Bell could play as a left-sided midfielder, instead of as a full-back. This is another example of the flexibility of the squad we now have.
I've been looking at Armstrong's record and he is another who has presumably been chosen for versatility. Although he is right-footed, Bolton played him on the left-wing. He is listed primarily as a centre-forward, but he's going to find it difficult to force a place in that position. In that respect, he's similar to Samuel and Antonsson. Payne's record, on the other hand, suggests he is best-suited to the job of attacking/creative central midfielder, but he could also fit in to the No. 10 role, currently occupied by Dack.
As I've commented before, when everyone's fit (which isn't far away - apart from Chapman), I have no idea how they are all going to be accommodated. In normal circumstances, several of our promising U-23s would also be pushing for places, but I would say that only Travis and Nuttall will get on the bench in the near future. Payne's arrival has moved Tomlinson back down a rung.
Incidentally, it's interesting to me that Mowbray looked for an extra player at left-back, but not for someone to cover Nyambe. This must mean he is happy with Caddis or that he thinks one of the youngsters will come through there quite soon.

I bet none of those same fans will have mentioned the fact he gets left isolated is a factor this even became a discussion point??
Bennet (on the other side) gives Nyambe very solid support. Largely Anotonsonn was in front of Williams. And due to his attacking nature (look at his goals in comparison to Bennet) he leaves Williams exposed, on the odd occasion. Very early on in the season, Williams had a few difficult games. The last one I saw was away at Oldham. After that, he has been consistent. Maybe I see a different game? I know I see it different to Kevin Gallagher who was telling you the other night, Walsall where always in the game. I went, I saw it, and thought we could've had 6 or 7. Williams is a good footballer Sax. That's why he can step in and play centre half. But we have just signed an even better LB now. He was only ever left isolated because we have been attacking down the other end. And in almost all of these games we are talking about, we didn't lose anyway. Because we where attacking.
I will accept sometimes I'll go ott. Only because I'm going and seeing for myself, that quite a lot of (negative) fans talk crap. And see a different game. If someone plays crap, I'll tell you. Evans was ****e. He barley plays now. I was consistent in my view with him. If you go to Ewood none of the fans ever said anything negative about him? But if Dack tries a lovely trick to unlock them, and it doesn't come off, folk start moaning. We all see a different game. I simply say what I see. The same fans who start moaning about Dacks misplaced pass, will be the same ones who 'go' and moan about Williams. Which you subsequently hear and assume 'Wiliams is a weak link'. Like Gally telling you Walsall where in that game the other night. No they weren't.

You have to understand, if I've got 30 attending fans telling me one thing, and only you and aucks telling me something different, you have to believe the majority, or at least consider their opinion seriously.

I do understand mate. Honestly I want you to come to a match with me. If your short I'll sort you out. I don't mean that in a patronising way, but I'd be happy with the company. Your welcome anytime. It would be good to be able to explain what I mean, while its in front of us. Next time your around, give me a shout and I'll let you know my seat number. Generally I go in the Riverside. I'll try meet up with Robin down at MK Dons later this season.
