interesting post lst im with you on those points unless a new investor comes in i think its inevatable that brooks will have to be sold for chris to get sufficient funds for a bit more quality for a promotion push again next season if we dont go up this time the final third worries me and will need significant investment in that area if were to continue our progress

I've no issue with criticising the club when it warrants it. I've been highly critical on many issues over the years. But I do believe that praising the club is often a bit grudging and conditional, and sometimes needs teasing out with a poke or two in the angry gland.

I'm not so supercilious. I'm actually a simple sort who likes to ask questions, often to be contrary and see the other side. I don't get tied to the past. Whats gone is gone, and endless suspicion, scrutiny and blame doesn't benefit anyone, especially the one holding the grudge.

So here we are in the Wilder revolution. We have a good owners and a good manager, who is now on the next phase of the learning curve in building a squad for higher things. They are all working together and we are on a journey. It is plain before your eyes.

Some make comments to be contrary just to see what comes to apparently Aya, a bit like someone criticising something to see how others feel and react is that.

Now we are in this glorious land of milk and honey we should perhaps remember that one swallow doesn't make a summer , just the same as one JTW does not mean that the rest will always be so full of sweetness and light.

That's something we should all bear in mind on this, the 50th anniversary of the second coming.

CW has made sure we haven't lost any and at last we managed to do our business early. So some progress but in the event we don't go up how are we going to get to the next level financially?

The current owners aren't billionaires and are covering ongoing costs and debt management with loans allowing for a modest playing budget in championship terms. That keeps our heads above water but not competitive at top end championship level. CW is not a miracle worker and will expect significant funds to mount a promotion challenge next season. His star will have risen in the football world if we get to the play offs or even a top 10 finish on one of the smallest budgets in the division. So how are the Board going to keep him motivated if offers come in for his services?

Based on the current financial model we seem to be operating to, unless significant investment comes in the Summer, the only way to generate cash for a bigger playing fund is to sell players. Some interesting challenges ahead over to you Kev. and the Prince.
Step 3 There is huge Chinese investment already in Sheffield and McCabe is involved in some of this. Surely that his something that he is exploring. Unless the Prince involves his wider family, who have the serious money.

Of course. Hence the OP in this thread, eh? Nothing gloating or inflammatory about that at all, was there?

If you're so happy with how things are, why can't you just bask in the warm glow of that rather than picking at opposing viewpoints like a scab? You're like Rod - throw in a dig about fellow Blades who don't share your rose-tinted views and then act all innocent when you're picked up on it.

At the start of the season everybody quoted consolidation as the main objective few if any were bolshy enough to suggest we could go straight through although we would all take it,the team caught most of us as well as the division by surprise,so we find ourselves in with a shout and people are pressing to go to the next level, nowt wrong with that we all want the club to do the best it can and go as far as is possible,I think we may have to settle for a bit of consolidation though instead, time as always will give us the answers.

I'll give praise to the board for not only backing wilder but not balancing the books by selling any family silver for a change, although we all probably know it's the windfall of previous sales that's paid for it,what surprises is how fans think the board have sold managers short in the past most have been backed,Adkins was given a huge budget, that he wasted most of it on dross is hardly the boards fault, and as for clough you can't bring the amount of players, family, friends and associates in without a healthy budget !

I don't think you should take a bit of ribbing as terribly serious. Specifically, there was lots of chatter in December about how Wilder wouldn't be backed, how we'd sell our best players, how Wilder would walk and go to another club because of it. Any of that happened? No? Wilder looks to be well backed to me, he looks totally onboard and loving the life at SUFC.

So, my views aren't rose tinted. I can see exactly where the club is currently and I'm happy with it. Do I want more, or course I do, but I'm looking forwards to how Wilder might develop his squad, not backwards to grudges from years ago.

I was criticised myself in December for my view. I just thought it worth a little tongue in cheek celebration, a small acknowledgement perhaps that things had gone well? I'm not singling you out at all, as you have complimented the club on its transfer window, but if others want to sit po-faced awaiting the next disaster, rather than enjoying this period of progress, well I just find it a bit sad that I'm not allowed to challenge that.

    You've spelt 'challenge ' wrong.

    It should be 'sneer at'.

The Op was,as usual,a self agrandising attempt by the boards biggest bore to villify the totally justifiable concerns any right minded Blade had concerning the JTW.
I'm exceptionally happy as to how that panned out, said I hoped to be and am absolutely balls deep up K MaC as a consequence.
All that said, anyone who didn't have qualms as to what might happen this window is a tool and anyone coming on here gloating like the OP is the biggest one of all.
But that has been demonstrated countless times so comes as absolutely no JTW shocker.
