I think that challenge was Soueys way of saying to him ‘stop poncing around like a big girl’ (just why SAF wanted shut).

Where does the ‘Yak’ sit on your list?
Given goals to on pitch time ratio I would think he would be in first, albeit a short stint .
I was sat at lunchtime (looking out at the blizzard!!) thinking about other strikers I'd forgotten about!!
Can't believe I forgot Yak! He did do a good for us and would go in the first list of decent strikers.
Ostenstad was here at a weird time, so hard to evaluate him properly.
Beattie didn't do anything for us, neither did Peter Thorne, but both went onto have decent enough careers (as did Davies) just ****e with us.

Any other honourable mentions we've missed off anyone??

Per Pederson (bet nobody remembers him??)

    etc etc

I don't think Dwight ever really recovered from the two footed challenge he got from Souey in training which sidelined him!!
I remember. Per pederson, a Danish international, was signed by Tony Parkes during his caretaker spell, he scored on his debut(v Chelsea I think) with a brave diving header(cutting his head doing so).. After that, he neither scored again or did much.

Going back to Rhodes, it shows what little knowledge of football former posters on here like cloggyjimmy and bigmoon had in supporting the player and slagging off any fans with criticism of him.

Sax, if we talking bout blistering inteoduction games can anyone top : Georgios Donis where he sped down wing and thumped a 35 yarder in from ‘on the run’ he went mental when he did (as did the crowd). Think it got goal of season v v early on!
He had reputation of being very very quick , but unfortunately as we found out , not necessarily with a ball at his feet - except for that one and only time - I seem to recall .

Hmm, can't remember a 35 yarder. I remember him dribbling past the Everton defence and scoring at pace in one of his early appearances.

I’m going to amend my faulty memory ‘chip’ and consider you may well be right . I remember it was a screamer taken on the run, and considering his v limited contribution over his time with us there would not be two ‘occasions’ like that !

Champs - not sure which category, but I'd like to give an honourable mention to Matt Derbyshire. I always thought if he'd found the right manager at the right club at the right time, he could have been very good. He was quick and an instinctive finisher.
He really didn't suit Sam's style, and I suppose you could say his subsequent career has proved he was destined to be a "nearly-man".
All the same, playing off a target-man, I reckon he could have been a 20-goals-a-season type.
He's scoring a lot of goals in Cyprus now. Not at all sure what the standard is, so that might not mean anything. I just feel he had a degree of promise that has never quite been fulfilled.

Derbyshire back to the standard he was at when playing for Gt Harwood in Cyprus I think. Career has come full circle.
