Seen us play against Workington at Millmoor 1/3/75 in the old 4th Division. We won 1-0 (Habbin) and we went on to get promotion that season with Jimmy McGuigan as manager.
New Brighton had a fairly long spell in Division 3N, so we played them several times. My dad (RIP) told me that he had seen the Millers play at New Brighton. Unlike some ex-League teams, New Brighton seems to have largely been forgotten by the general public.

Just checked a few things....
Amazingly we played New Brighton 38 (!) times in Division 3 North, with results fairly even, so they can't have been a bad team at that level.
Played Workington in the FA Cup at Millmoor in 1969/70 and in 1978/79. Won both games 3-0. Downes, Fantham and Swift scored in the first game, and Breckin and Gwyther (2) in the second. I must have been at both matches , but can't remember much other than fairly easy wins for the Millers. Workington had failed to get re-elected to the league in 1977 and had been replaced by Wimbledon.
Workington Town was never a club with a big football fanbase, partly because that area in the 60/70s had quite a strong rugby league tradition too. Barrow were similar. Also bit like current league teams Newport and Exeter City still are with rugby union.

Anyone remember a cup-tie against Mossley in the 70's? Never heard of them before or since.
26/11/77 FA Cup Rnd 1 : Millers 3 Mossley 0 (Finney, Gwyther, Philips)
Mossley were unknown to me at the time too. They are still going in Northern Premier North. They managed to get to Round 2 of the FA Cup a few seasons later (lost to Mansfield), but haven't had a good cup run since the 80s
Not sure if I went to that game, but I definitely went to see us thrash Spennymoor 6-0 at Millmoor in the next round on 17/12/77 (Phillips hat-trick, Crawford 2 and Gwyther)

Mossley won the FA Trophy the year before I moved to Staltbridge. Used to go and watch them when I couldn’t get to Millmoor. Been downhill for them ever since. Always a scrap when they played Hyde.
Didn’t get a reply to my earlier post, other than Kiddie is the other club that has been in the league we have never played against Rushden & Diamonds?
That's the only post-WW2 club that I can think of - there may be much older ones?
By the way- after being relegated from the football league, they reformed and played for a while at the "Dog and Duck" ground in Wellingboro' - great name! They are back in the league "pyramid" system and I think that they are back in Rushden now.
Don't think that we ever played Merthyr Town, Aberdare or Thames from the old Division 3 South in any competition
