    Lascelles

Reports in the press linking Lascelles with a £30M move to Chelsea

Only a matter of time before other richer clubs come sniffing around our best players

Half of my post is missing

What I was going to say is we need to slap a high price down to dissuade offers for him (he is our captain)
£50M +Luiz should put them off

We need to build a team around him

    What is his true value?

it's difficult to put a price on a player like him. his value to us is gauged by his influence and effect on players around him, as well as his talent.

at some other clubs his influence may well be more limited due to other senior players within the squad.

I'd say, to us, he (just like Rafa) is priceless.

Unlike Pardew, Rafa will fight to keep him.

unlike Pardew, Rafa won't pimp him and tout him out to anybody who is listening.

If Ashley goes and Rafa stays, Lascelles will be here for a while.

I think it's impossible to argue he hasn't improved considerably since he first returned from loan.

However, on the flip side - if Ashley stays and Rafa goes. . . That could see Lascelles seriously considering those Champions League teams looking at him.
