Premier league squad or championship squad argument.

We've all been arguing/debating about whether we had a championship squad, all season, so let's get some independent views on what will be what this season and next, with a few scenarios.
Answer as honestly as you can.

Let's assume we finish this season in 13th place or better. This will be achieved with what many believe is a championship squad...so fair enough on that score, if that's what people genuinely think.

Now assume Rafa stays under whatever owner and he is given enough money to buy in realistic targets that he wants...not dealt, as the argument's been.

Ok, so from this point on we could then assume we would have a premier league squad and a much better one than the previous championship one that he's worked with...right?

What are the expectations from you as to what you would regard as a end of season finish.

No arguments, just a simple and honest thought process in this hypothetical situation, from each and every one of the participants.

Try and give your reasons for it all. Put a little bit of effort in.

That entirely depends on the type of players he's able to bring in. Just because he's given money and his managerial record stands to be seen doesn't mean he will be able to attract world class players to Newcastle just like that. It depends on a lot of things, but he should be able to strengthen the squad, yes. We might have a stronger squad then but could still face another tough season in the league if it's close again like this season.

Reading the OP I assume that you are saying that if he doesn't take us into the Top 12 he 1) should be sacked or 2) he's not the manager that we all thought he was. To me, that line of reasoning is complete bullsh!t - for reasons that are fairly obvious. There you go.

I'm not saying anything like what you're thinking. I'm asking for people's opinions on what I wrote, hence why I put what I put at the bottom.

I didn't mean to put words into your mouth. But maybe I can ask you then; part of the OP wasn't that about suggesting that if Rafa gets to bring in the players he desires, then he ought to perform a lot better than we have this season?

What are the expectations from you as to what you would regard as a end of season finish.

Ifs, buts and so's aside, I would expect in the second season to press on and finish between 9/12th comfortably. Any higher would require some big investments and then probably no higher than 7th, 6th would be remarkable and any lower would mean we did not get much investment re 14/17th.

Speculation and depends on the enigma that is MA. If he sells then hopefully onward and upward. if he does not too many variations to be considered not least whether RB would stay, given past promises.

The topic is all about what you lot think, not about me arguing the toss about it.

If you expect Rafa to finish 17th and explain why then fair comment.
If you expect him to better it and explain, then fair comment.
It's hypothetical as it stands so it's not up for argument which is why I just went for opinions.

It's about what YOU feel and expect. That's my interest, as in all. I'll even stay out of it and let people get on with it of that helps.

My expectations based on what I said would be for Rafa to be inside the top 10 or at the very least 10th. As long as he entertained and had a go doing it with better quality.
Basically entertain enough like he's doing as of late.

Anything higher would be a hope and/or a bonus and a joy but expectation would be 10th as a minimum.
