The FA cannot tell 20,000 football fans what they think is "acceptable" or not.

Our stance on Saturday might stop other players of any colour, creed or religion from playing the "race" card.

The FAs Respect programme does just that BT. Clubs sign up to it and there are penalties for breaches. Apparently Bong has complained someone was making monkey noises when he took a throw in, and police are investigating.
None of this does our Fair Play situation any good either.
We need to let this go and let Jay fight his own battles, or not if that’s what he chooses.
Jay did wrong by holding his nose whatever he said.
In a heat of the moment, he said v he said fight, with no evidence or witnesses to support either person, this is going no where and the more we stir it up the longer it runs benefitting no one, not Jay whose name is dragged back in the mud, not the club whose few hundred or thousand? fans chose to bully a person who believes he heard right, and not Bong who was a victim of bullying if nothing else and most importantly not our club which will get very bad PR from whatever happens.

I agree with some of that OC, however, I do not agree that Jay did wrong by holding his nose, particularly, after Bong had been right in his face.
There has always been banter in football and holding your nose to say a player's breath stinks is very mild to some of the stuff which was said and done when I was playing as a semi-professional back in the 1960s and 1970s.
You just got on with things and gave as good as you got, although I felt sorry for some of the lads I played with and against because they did suffer blatant racial abuse of the sort you read about in those days.

Bong was a victim of booing because he has pursued his agenda in the local press and on social media even after the verdict of not proven was given, he should have let it drop and it would have died a natural death in time.

I did not boo and would not, however, it was obvious that he would come in for some sort of treatment at the Turf after he continued to cast aspersions even after receiving an apology from Jay for his making the sign etc., such is the nature of football crowds.

Remember who it was that started the racist chants at the match --so it appears now that if you boo any opposition player for any reason and he is not English you can be held to be racist by the opposition fans and the FA.
Hughton, Bong, Brighton fans, the FA and the media are ensuring that this continues to run because the booing by some Burnley fans ceased at the final whistle.

So what happens on Sunday if Lacazette commits a nasty foul and the Burnley fans boo him --will they be charged as being racist on account that they are booing another black player and that will be two weeks running so that proves it.

I'm scratching my head to try and remember the last time we singled out any player for dog's abuse other than Fat Boy Slim from Blackburn and he doesn't count!

I listened to the Bong interview last night and he comes across as just another sanctimonious prick with a chip on his shoulder.

Sorry, but I ain't being told who I can applaud or berate at a football match.

Monkey chants however are way out of line and I am really surprised that is even being alleged. Bong carrying on his racial persecution theory perhaps?

It is remarkable that no other player on the field seems to have heard it.

I have some sympathy for the FA, the PC Brigade have them firmly in their sites, so they have to be seen to be playing the game just to keep them off their back, they can hardly do otherwise. Ordinary people in the real world just treat statements like theirs with the contempt they deserve.

I have no sympathy for anyone who continues to go with the flow of something because it appears to be "in fashion" (for the want of a better term), it will not get any better while everyone goes with this immature and pathetic stance, it will take an honest and logical statement from a big organisation saying that PC has gone too far and not everything that happens is Racist, the FA have gone with the flow (which is a common factor for them) and in my book made them look what they are, Fools, I don't care who the PC brigade have in their sites, its long past the time that this stupidity should be fronted with common sense, or is most people to scared to speak their minds nowadays ? because that's what it looks like.

It's not quite so simple Alto, the FA aren't being PC compliant because it's fashionable, it's because the government has told them that if they don't get their house in order on racism, ***ism, homophobic abuse, equality etc, you know, all the usual PC ****e, then the government will withhold up to £30m of grant money. That money keeps the game going at grassroots level, the FA simply cannot risk losing that money, it would be a disaster for the amateur game so, whether they like it or not, they have to jump through the PC hoops to keep the money the game depends on coming in.
So they throw the book at Andre Gray for homophobic tweets, they declare our behaviour unacceptable, while black players are allowed to play the race card with impunity. I don't like it one little bit, but I can understand why they have to do it, and it's why I have some sympathy for them. Just the way it is in this lunatic asylum we live in.

Unfortunately, sinkov, you are very correct in what you state. Conform and get the money is basically what the FA are up against, mind you, I still think that it suits their agenda.

Good on the Fat Controller, it's time someone got our side of the story into the media. I could put it even more succinctly than Scholes, Bong wasn't booed because he is black, he wasn't booed because he accused Jay of making racist remarks, he was booed because his published remarks after the hearing mark him out as a cnut. And cnuts get booed.

Some of the comments are crazy with one bloke saying he lived up here and went to football at Blackburn and everyone is a racist etc., etc. and then there is Ernie Wilson who is obviously somewhere near the back of the queue when brains were dished out.
