A good read on this from Tom English

I myself cant help but think he is going to be the huns version of Mark McGhee. I think the difference will be that he will get cash to spend, however good players need a good manager and lets be honest, he has no experience of that.
As Tom English has said above, it is a massive gamble that may or may not pay off. The problem with being a Rangers manager is the expectation is to win the league and/or the cups. There is no steadying of the ship, there is no progress allowed to be made in small steps, its just instant success that is required. That's what separates the cheeks from everyone else and its why i have been saying for years now that we are entering an era where i think, one of the Old Firm will completely collapse.
It was always a duopoly from late 80's to 2012, with money being spent on big named signings and wages. As we all know now, Oldco didnt actually have the money and died because of it. However, despite changes in their circumstances, the fans haven't changed. Celtic were rebuilt from the roots up by Fergus McCann and that has paid off for them. Sevco on the other hand want instant and success and they want it now. Spending years behind Celtic and rebuilding is not an option. They are trying to fast track success and while they are a big club in terms of fan base, they are also in huge debt. When the old club was around, there were 2 Champions league places, there was more TV money and their was 'fake money' buying them success. Most of those things dont exist now and if they want to be this massive club, they need to topple Celtic. Thats not going to happen anytime soon.
Many of us on here lay claims to knowing they are going bust, which isnt going to happen anytime soon. However chasing Celtic and living in their shadow cant last forever. If they do remain behind Celtic, if Gerrard is a huge failure (4 year deal on massive wages) and they continue be unsuccessful, they wont last forever. Of course there are huns willing to piss every penny they have away on Sevco, but everyone has their limits. Sevco to me just smack of desperation in this appointment. Their owner is a mess, their boardroom is a mess, their squad is a mess, they have been through 7 managers in 3.5 years and if this managerial appointment is as equally a mess then i think they are royally f*cked. Time will tell.
The annoying thing about it all is that despite all of this shyte they are going through, they are still managing to convincingly beat us... we have completely failed to capatlise on their mess and that is unacceptable. I do struggle to revel in their struggle, while they continue to outdo us on every occasion.
