The price of a player can also alter with the amount of time they have on their current contracts
Jamaal is still young and is growing as a player
He has got great leadership qualities for his age
I don’t want him to go

Surely his worth is what we value him at!

If we say he’s worth £65M
And someone else doesn’t want to pay that....well that’s up to them!

Yep - he is worth what the seller wants. No people are 'worth' money in this sense, but footballers are products in a market, and the logic that follows is that the seller estimates the worth of the asset, and then demands a price. That doesn't mean the price is fair or not above what the market is currently producing, but it is the prerogative of the seller (owner) to request what he/she demands financially - no one is forced to buy if they don't like the price.

The only scenario in which we should even contemplate signing Lascelles is if he hands in a Transfer Request.

No amount of money from his sale could be reinvested to get us someone that good and promising. We just need someone equally solid next to him. Cashing in on the scarce talent in our squad would be suicidal. Everton can keep their money from the sale of Rooney and do one. So can Chelsea - they have Cahill. What's the problem? :-)
