Pardew should never be used as an example of experience ever again because the guy just hasnt learned anything over the time he has spent as a manager.
In my opinion, we shouldn't appoint based on experience. I've had enough of mercenary 'old school' managers who are here just to milk us, our last two managers being perfect cases in point.

I would appoint a manager based on other characteristics such as their character, football knowledge and philosophy.

I like Darren Moore's character and I like the way he interviews with the media. I think he has an extensive knowledge of our club and players. I don't think anyone has had enough time to judge his general football knowledge or ethos yet. But he ticks more boxes than not, for me.

Appreciate we all have an opinion and I respect everyone's, but I'm really surprised at the level of pessimism. Lets be supportive, he's a club legend who has had a promising start to a managerial career.

So people are saying Big Dave doesn't play attractive football 3 of his 6 games were against 3 of the top 4 teams in the prem what was he supposed to do try and out play them, I agree he lacks experience and we need to bring in the right DOF to help him with transfers but I don't think we should be writing him off before he has even been given the job.

"We shouldn't appoint based on experience".

    Nice one!

Apparently, holloway threw his hat into the ring but he must have missed as he hasn't got the job.

If that's all it takes these day to manage our great club I've got a panama hat and with a bit of practice at the fair (no experience mind) I'm sure I can get it in jenkins ring.

I think if it saves a few quid jenkins would open his ring up more often, for all sorts, perhaps new half time entertainment/competition you win a pie from the 2010/2011 season if you kick the ball into mj's ring.

BD will always be a Albion legend but he needs to learn his job elsewhere before coming back.

How many of you would have been happy with Moore if he had stood in for 6 games at Stoke?

Surgeons practice on dead bodies for a reason, you dont want them coming near us until they have sufficient experience. Darren should start with a club other than us, then come to us when he has the experience. Love the guy by the way just using some common sense.

Good luck to Big Dave if true! "Surgeons practice on dead bodies for a reason" - Pardew must have practiced then on the brains of Myhill, Evans, Livermore and Barry, as well as dead wood like Sturridge and Chadli, and put a voodoo curse on the two white vertical posts and crossbar for Rondon.

I cant argue with you 123 on Moore's character and it looks like he will be appointed and I will be fully behind the man. Here's to a successful campaign. I really want it to work for all of us.

Agree there Boingy. Who knows! He deserves a crack at the job. Will he be better than Smith or any other Championship manager - again who knows as any appointment would be a gamble. Even so called premiership managers have ultimately failed us.

The key to this - will be quality and hungry players recruited. Not players like Barry and expensive loans who want to rape the club with super high wages. We do need a goal scorer though and for me Robson Kanu and Rondon are not good enough. If Rondon could not hit the target much in the Premiership then why should he in the Championship and he didn't look anything special at Accrington and again missed chances.

So the key is investment on quality and recruitment which will massively shape how successful or not successful Big Dave will be.

Start the cull now and feck the bad eggs off immediately.............

Maybe you've given Darren the job because it wasn't an appealing job vacancy for the likes of Big Sam. The guy was England manager and has managed some big clubs. Maybe he saw it as a step down

As for Smith, I think he will be waiting for a premier league club to come in for him.

You've not had a great shortlist put forward really have you?
