Thread: Sam Byram

  1. #11
players coming towards the end of their careers take a cut in wages , not when they are 24 year old, they would be plenty of other clubs willing to offer far more in wages than leeds. thats why he moved in the first place.

the wage structure at leeds means we are very limited , in who we can attract , because we do not pay the going rate for quality , 15 grand a week is chicken feed in comparison to what many other clubs would be prepared to offer.

We need quality, fitness, potential, passion. We do not need cheap, crocked, has-been, desperate.
Players tend to get injured when they're used so infrequently. Byram with regular first team football will not suffer anywhere near the same.

He started 44 times in 2012/13, then got crocked at the end of the season, and played just 27 times the following season, then got is purple patch, in 14/15, then goes to Spam and we know what has happened there. He has had many injuries, either as a result of too much exposure when at Leeds and too young (?), or through too little at Spam. He is too much of a risk, and would be asking too much to justify taking a punt (pay per play would be ok, but he would never agree to that, why should he when he has another 2 years of a well-paid contract to go?)

Keep him away - as a right back he was/is garbage - Ayling and Berardi are twice as good as defenders - he looked reasonable on the right wing - but no great shakes - also injury prone and fecked off at the first chance he got

    Don't rate him at all

Never understand why often people are so keen to write players off so quickly. He was good enough to be signed and for whatever reason it didn’t work for him there that doesn’t mean he is useless or a crock.

was very very good when he played for us in terms of attitude, fitness and giving his all.

He IS a crock, and why should Leeds develop a penchant for trying to recuperate crocks?

Nothing good to say about the lad - Couldn't defend and couldn't wait to get away - and he was a right back - a position that we don't really need strengthening.

Bigger needs than him - center forward, center half a couple of strong midfielders and a decent winger all before we need Byram.
