I understand the real reason is so that Coventry can have it as their home stadium from 2021, ready for their Champions League campaigns etc. (I understand from UEFA that it's been decided they will lose 3-1 in the final to PSG). The money will be used to build a new National Stadium on Meadow Lane for Notts to use in theirs from the following season when we beat Marseilles 3-2 in extra time (according to the ref.). It's only right to let Real Coventry have their day in the sun first.

    Very sporting!

I remember reading in a book by Simon Inglis (brilliant writer on football grounds) that Port Vale's Vale Park was originally planned to be an 80,000 capacity 'Wembley of the North', but unsurprisingly the club couldn't fund or live up to those lofty ambitions. The proof of the original intention is there in the size of the entrance tunnel onto the pitch I believe.

I remember my first visit to Vale Park after hearing that, and being able to sense the broken ambition of the place. By the way, we lose to Sporting in the 2024 semi finals apparently

Definitely Lisbon, although there could have been a typo on the betting slip I suppose.

Knowing our luck, it probably said Sporting Khalsa in the newly-formed Midlands Champions League.

I suppose one of the advantages of old age is that I'm unlikely to be around when Coventry win the 2042 World Cup. I understand from FIFA that they beat Brazil 4-1 in the final in Outer Mongolia. Replays prove that Brazil were clearly robbed by 73 wrong decisions, but VAR wasn't used because the batteries in Outer Mongolia ran out just before the Coventry defender shot the Brazilian centre forward. The internet in Brazil crashed however due to the sheer volume of gloating posts from the 15 million Coventry fans.
