That equates to well under half of the 5391 reported cases. These are on!y the reported cases too. As it is illegal I don't think it would be remiss to assume there was many more unreported cases too. How many prosecutions have been secured as a result of this illegal practice? Another area where the untouchables get away with crime.

Minor correction - these are the only reported cases where the country of origin of the girl/woman is know... 88% from Africa. That's an overwhelming majority of the known cases of people with known origins. If Brexit or Trump won by such a margin, you'd be ecstatic!

This confirms what I was telling you - the origin of the problem is not the Qu'ran... it's Africa!

I would disagree with that, I think the origin of the problem is the worship of gods, even though there is not a shred of plausible evidence that these mythical gods exist. The existence of gods were as good an explanation as you could come up with centuries ago, back then nobody was aware that an earthquake was caused by the movement of tectonic plates, so the theory that it was "The will of god" was hard to argue with. The only glimmer of hope is that religion is slowly being seen as the sham it is, even evident in my lifetime. When I was a kid, it was rammed down our throats at school, and the church was beyond question. Now more and more people are seeing the light. Even in a country like Ireland, the recent abortion vote has shown that people are prepared to turn their back on ancient doctrines from the church and move into the modern world. There are however two problems - the church (or mosque, synagogue, temple etc) have a lot of wealth and a lot of power. They won't give up either easily. The second problem (yes, I am saying it) is Islam. This religion is ingrained so deeply from birth and has so many interpretations (a few of the more extreme ones dating back to the dark ages) that it will be hard to eradicate. All is not lost though - the future is bright, the future is Atheism.

It has become somewhat of a trend lately, especially in Europe, to now refer to male circumcision as 'genital mutilation.' Iceland has even banned the practice on infants unless there is a pressing medical need.

As a circumcised atheist, born to atheist parents, the practice of circumcision among many North American atheists, as well as the lack of circumcision among many religious peoples of various countries, would suggest that circumcision has less to do with what we think God wants, and instead is a practice that gets handed down from generation to generation, 'just because.' Kinda like the way my family sticks up a Christmas tree every year and hangs flashing lights up around the house (inside and out) even though we doubt there was ever even a manger in Bethlehem, nor have we the foggiest idea which particular pagans the practice originally was stolen from.

Now of course there's no shortage of 'Christians' who will insist on putting Christ back in Christmas, or jews who holler that a cut pecker is their holy right... but it doesn't change the fact that we tend to do what's always been done and then think up reasons why after the fact.

That's a profound and novel idea!

    I have a question though:

How do we tell the difference between the ones that have come over to blow sh*t up vs the ones that are just here to buy a few goats, shag the women and hang out in really tuff car parks? I mean, we don't want to send the wrong ones back to their sh*thole countries, do we?
