I can't think of many players who've spent a year drawing a salary while lying on the treatment table only to waltz off once they're fit again and out of contract. I expect he'll sign again.

What worries me is that what often happens with serious knee or ankle injuries is that the player signs up again, then gets crocked and spends another year on the sidelines before retiring tragically young...

PS Maybe it would help if we fans could spell his name correctly. O'Connor.

That would most certainly help a broken leg, it helped with mine.

Leigh 'scoop' Curtis in the know?

From Jimmy: Now then Leigh, hope you’re well. Any word on O’Connor, DJ and Duffy and their contracts? Also where do you see Kellett playing for us? Know he’s a versatile player. Thanks!

Hi Jimmy, thanks for coming on. Hope you’re having a good day. Understand O’Connor has several offers on the table. It was interesting to hear Danny Cowley at Lincoln give an interview last week talking about signing quality players who are available on a free transfer and that age and location are important. Given they’ve just sold Woodyard there’s an opening there in midfield and Michael lives just outside Lincoln. I would not be surprised at all if they try to sign him. I know the fans want him to stay at Notts, and I hope he does too, because he’s a quality player. He’s very calm and composed on the ball and his performance against Coventry in the second half was exceptional. I think it would be a blow to lose him as he’s experienced too and I think that CM area lacks it. As for Jones, the club is increasingly confident he will put pen to paper on a new contract which I think would be terrific because he was in fine form towards the back end of the season. Not only does he give you pace, but his delivery from set-pieces is very good. And I would expect Richard Duffy to sign a new contract too. With Tootle and Brisley already signed up, if Duffy and Jones put pen to paper then you’ve kept the fourth best defence in the league together. They all know each other’s games so well by now and I’m definitely in favour of having as minimal disruption to your backline as possible.

Give him and the others a deadline to sign, we need to get people in if they are dragging their feet
