Check the definition of 'normal'. It doesn't mean gay folk are 'subnormal' or 'abnormal', but if you pick on any single person the world over they will 'normally' be hetero. And incidentally, that should mean that when I switch on the TV I should 'normally' be met with a non-LGBT feature, and yet increasingly that's not the case.

Check the antonym of ‘normal’ Andy...then put yourself in the position of someone who is gay...who you have inferred as fitting that description and imagine how they’d feel...and that’s coming from someone who I believe does have a largely tolerant attitude.

I think a backlash against LGBT will be the next battleground for the intolerant after immigration. And whilst enforcing a law against those who break it in public is sort-of enforceable, doing so amongst the millions of people who share intolerant views in private is not, or at least not without resorting to 1984-esque or Maoist tactics. IMO we live in a free country, Gareth Thomas should be free to evangelise his gayness, others should be free to express their distaste.
