Offences abroad can still be looked at with Scots Law. Think it came in mid 90s.

Which, let's face it, is b'ollocks.

What if you break a Scottish law but you're in a country where what you've done is legal?

" I plead guilty to 4763 offences of drinking outside opening hours"

Of course you think it's b'ollocks. I've no idea if racially abusing a child is legal in Macedonia.

    As you were.

If it's illegal in Macedonia then it's a Macedonian police matter.

No business at all of McPlod.

What if I made some home brew in my flat in Aberdeen?

Nice and legal, it would probably be pish but not against the law.

What if I distilled some fruit into Palinka in my flat in Budapest.

Nice and legal, it would probably kill the brain cells but not against the law.

What if the Aberdeen police found out I had been distilling liquor.

What prison sentence do you reckon I should get?
Distilling is practically a hanging offence here, so frowned upon that I've never even heard of anyone trying it.

If you're in a country, you are subject to their laws.
You don't carry your own countries laws across the borders.

True tae an extent Donsdaft .... at least wi the examples ye gave ... but there's the thing aboot scum goin abroad and bein seen as representative o' their country/culture. There are countries where it's OK tae shag wee lassies .... Ah would hope folk fa go abroad and pursue such activities are nae free tae walk aboot back hame as if they've done nithin wrong.

If we expect the apparatus o' UK/Scots Law tae assist Scots wrongfully accused/arrested in foreign countries ... possibly facin death sentences, then we should equally expect McPlod tae a). assist/co-operate wi police across borders tae bring justice tae bear for crimes committed under another countries laws, and/or b). stick a big boot up the hole o' shiτebags fa participate in what we regard, in our country, as unlawful, or scummy behaviour .... even if it is legal abroad.
