    What route

Will our new forward take from Japan.

In the 1970s there was three main routes. The long one with a stopover in India.A medium distance via Moscow.

I paid off a ship about 1978/9 and took the short route over the North Pole.Tokyo to Amsterdam with a fuel stop at Anchorage. It only took about 9 hours then a short hop Amsterdam to Newcastle.

    Thinking about happy times.

Apparently Muto has agreed terms and passed a medical, now waiting for a work permit which should not be a problem as he has over 20 International caps and has played in an EU country for 3 years.

Mainly Bulk Carriers with Bowring Steamship Company and Stag Line, sailed worldwide but had regular route to Brazil and back for a while which was my best times.
Was on El Lobo a Burmah oil tanker for six months and also relieved on Stevie Clarke's tanker Maplehurst while their own engineers went to college to get the new certification coming in.

I remember seeing a Stag line boat many years ago here going from Lake Erie to Lake Ontario through the Welland Canal. The shout was, "any Geordies on board" and there were quite a few, yakked on and on as the ship lowered down in the lock system. Last ship I was on sailed from Smiths Dock in North shields, a Shell tanker called Hemitrochus, went to Venezuela and on to Houston, Galveston, New Orleans etc., great days.
