    Hot weather

I hear it's still quite hot over there. It's also been like that and more over here, it's like that most summers here so it doesn't hit us as bad as it does in the UK. Most houses here have air/con so we can enjoy the weather when it's still fairly cool in the morning then hide indoors in the pm. From what I can see it's like this worldwide this summer, don't worry though, we will all be complaining of the cold and rain shortly.

Boro v Mackems friendly was called off yesterday due to torrential thunderstorms.

We've had quite a bit of rain and thunder down here today and that thankfully seems to have broken the heat a bit, we're at 18 degrees rather than 29 degrees.

I've been working in the Qatar for 3 yrs now; Summer temperatures hit 55,56 degrees some days. When it's dry it's bearable going from building to building but when it's humid; some days it gets up to 70,80,90% humidity, it's brutal!

You don't so much sweat as steam!

Winter time is quality though. Pleasant evenings sat outside enjoying a shisha, nice cold beer and quality mixed grill.

I know everyone is moaning about the Qatar world cup but I think people will be pleasantly surprised about this little nation. It's a decent place to live and work.

Is that right about them air conditioning the stadiums ? find that hard to believe but then again Qatar is oil country.

haha yeah the stadiums are open air and air conditioned.

I was at the equivalent of the Gulf's Champions league final in the new Qatar national stadium Last summer before the Blockade from the other GCC countries was imposed.

I was very comfortable inside the stadium on a very hot night.

The new underground/metro system is almost complete and they are going through the testing and safety checks now.

    They're building link crazy.

Also a lot of the stadiums are being built like Meccano sets. So the surplus stadiums after the world cup will be dismantled and donated to countries who can't afford their own. The Qatari's will be paying for the rebuild in the countries once they have shipped the massive Meccano sets to Africa and Asia.

So unlike Brazil, who's stadiums are being used bus stations or just obsolete & rotting into the jungle Qatar will actually leave a legacy from their tournament!

No one from Europe complained about Brazil winning the world cup big & it wasn't until the England fans got to the Amazonia in Manaus that they started to moan about the heat, humidity & mozzi's the size or Robin!

My ex is from Natal in the north of Brazil, I knew what was coming but most were bitten to bugary!

Can't get my head around the stadiums being open air and yet still air conditioned, the cost must be horrendous. I guess the colder dryer air is heavier and will want to stay in the bottom of the stadium but they must need to be pumping out massive amounts to compete with the invading hot humid air. In my house I still have big 5' ceiling fans to suck up the cool air conditioned air and distribute it through the house. The warm humid air is sucked into the air/con system, dried then pumped back into the house and the moisture is dispelled outside. I have been in air conditioned stadiums in the States but they are enclosed, to do it in an open air stadium is mind boggling.
