You must remember it was to 'kill the saboteurs' and to 'have a mandate for May's Brexit' and they lost.

It was one of a series of unforced errors by the Conservatives in order to ease the divisions in the party that has cost the country as a whole.
It was one of the preconceived plans to further obscure the mandate. Both Cons and Labour fought the election on a leave basis, although Labour tried to hedge their bets. Although May tried to throw the election with the most ill conceived campaign ever (bring back fox hunting/property tax on the elderly) she still got in probably because of the Corbyn factor. Since then she has done her utmost to wreck any chance of sorting out a good deal and continues to alienate even her staunchest of supporters. As I have said all along, we should have just come out, gone on to WTO rules and then began negotiations from that platform. Despite what anyone on here says the EU is not and never will be a democratic organisation. It may try to give the appearance of being one which may fool the starry eyed but its leadership are unelected bureaucrats who cannot be removed. The elected aspect of the EU are merely rubber stampers, the majority of which are quite happy to agree to anything as long as they keep receiving their inflated salaries and perks and are assured of their EU pensions. Despite the media hype and rhetoric, the vote and opinion of the majority of the UK was to leave and that has not changed. No, that is not a reason for another referendum!

If the terms are so good then the result will surely be an overwhelming OUT which will kill the debate and the claims of the previous 48%. Won't it ?
    Afraid of another 'once-in-a-lifetime' vote?

Ooh, I dunno. It could well be that May is a Remainer and is doing her best to keep us in.
Our negotiating stance is weak because of her and weak because the Crybabies have the biggest platforms in our media.
You're Atlantic Brothers with the 'Democrats' and have the same idea of 'democracy' as those pant-wetters.

It seems to me that the best excuse people can give for staying in, is that it's too complicated to leave!

Chaos on the motorway, 10p on Blueberries and an Avocado shortage, ffs, we've been in tougher times and come out the other side stronger and we'll do it again.

Don't forget not being able to fly and spend money in Spain, Portugal or Greece.
We'll have to sail and hope that **** Rob Brydon isn't on board.

Maybe some of us recognised this and saw it as another good reason to remain.

And on what planet do people still trot out this undemocratic EU bullocks. You have heard of European elections and MEPs haven't you ? Commissioners chosen by elected sovereign governments ? You do know the UK civil service isn't elected don't you ? You need to stop reading the Daily Express and get educated.
I can't remember having a vote in the German election or French, Spanish or any other of the 26 nations. Or is it only our MPs who decide our fate in the EU?

So do you think the UK govt is undemocratic because you don't get to vote for all 650 MPs ? That was the argument being made - that the EU is undemocratic. It isn't. You may not like their decisions but that's not the point.

... ffs Snobhead 2 ... now I am convinced you're losing it altogether. Staying in the EU because it's too complicated to leave! Believing the EU is a democracy ... (dissolves in hysterical laughter) ... thanks Sh 2.

Not as stupid as it sounds if you actually complete the sentence. It should read "Staying in the EU because it's too complicated to leave with a deal that actually benefits us". People who couldn't negotiate their way out of a paper bag like seriouspie and Tricky are happy to say "F*ck 'em", but fortunately even these inept politicians realise that would just be cutting off our nose to spite our face.
