League clubs don't make money for their owners and very few break even. Nearly all clubs are reliant on the largesse of their owners to survive.
Barnsley aren't a special case. They depended on Cryne. Yes, the club has enjoyed a degree of success in the transfer market in recent years, but it is unlikely that can be sustained.
