    I agree, sinkov.
He didn't care who he upset, whether it was other directors, managers, players, fans or whatever because he showed leadership and wanted his club to be the best and was very single-minded in that fact.
These simple facts will always lay people open to criticism and he dealt with that in his own way, upsetting more people along the way.

He was a dictator no less, but one who Jimmy got on well with until he upset Bob by taking a lift back in his enemies car.
Other directors and managers had to do what he said or go.
Dictators can be a force for good and Bob was that. He put us on the map and for some time even controlled the FA to our benefit.
His treatment of Jimmy was the first big mistake, his treatment of Potts by imposing Adamson and the selling of Dobson for the stand others that gradually eroded his power.

It's why I called Bob's legacy a bit ying and yang.

Good for part; bad for other parts.

It will always come back to --did the ends justify the means?

Taken as a whole, was he good or bad?

IMO selling a great player or two was not done for the benefit of Burnley FC at all; not the best for the fans. It was about was was best for him.

And when that happens he is no longer a force for good.

He was selfish and arrogant and thought he was above the club.

No one is that--not even Bob.

I'd agree with that Heeler, Done good for our Club and then did a thing of jealousy with Mac, and then the vanity of the Bob Lord Stand with Dobo's transfer, both not for the Club's benefit that he'd done so well to build beforehand.

The sands of time would suggest that a true gentleman off the pitch as well as being a legendary talisman on the pitch was shat upon by an obsessively rude, autocratic and arrogant chairman.

Jimmy's enormous contribution to Burnley Football Club and the shabby exit he endured was recognised by Barry Kilby and in all fairness Barry did his utmost to make amends.

There is little doubt that Jimmy's passing will be mourned with a much deeper grief from the world of football than Bob Lord's death ever was. R.I.P. Jimmy.
