as you mention it - Sinkov.....been looking at the "foul" on wood that gave us the Penalty....Olympicos player wins the ball and chases it - his path is direct enough - Wood moves to win it - but is it him that crosses into the path of the Olymp man.... and impedes him - did the ref get it right ?....or was Wood looking for it - I'm tempted to believe he was.

Looks a soft one to me, that's Wood, not the penalty!

Wood was going to be in control of the ball though because he got there in front of the defender who did not need to make contact. By making contact from the angle he was at he gave the referee a decision to make, much like Dele Alli and Long last season at the Turf.

Looking at Norders video clip it looks like a 50 50 ball, I'm sure the Greek player can see a blur of a Claret player going for the same ball, one was always going to get there first and it was Wood, they both clashed going for it, Wood went down, but why give a penalty ? like Sub has previously said, its a contact sport, one was slightly late with going for the ball but it was not intentional so why give a penalty ? Its Pathetic it really is.

I agree - Alto.....if that was given against us, i'd be well miffed.

It wasn't a pass from Taylor - he fluffed it after the cross and lay off from Wood...should have been a quick one-two back to Wood who was in space and onside - be Taylor just messed around with the ball and lost control - which is when the Olimpcos player ran in...kicked it away and continued to chase before Wood did....does seem like CW would have reached the ball first, but he held himself up before he got there - right in front of the Olimpcos player who was going full pelt to get it - then all he had to do was loosen up and - he was going to ground.

Just a subtle reminder. Burnley players do not cheat.

Cheers Norder, I hadn't seen that before, and we got a penalty for that ???? FFS, no wonder there were a few cross Greeks in the tunnel at half-time.
I'm seriously beginning to wonder if it's worth the time and expense to watch football any more, most games seem to be decided by idiotic referees these days, not the players, so what's the point ?

Remember the penalty that Silva got for Man City against us last season, there was no difference to the one which Wood got against Olympiakos.
I don't like this interpretation either but, unfortunately, it is the way the game is going and with the introduction of VAR it will get much worse. Contact will mean a foul one way or another. Pathetic!
