The atmosphere at Millmoor for big games was amazing - don't forget that in it's heyday it held roughly TWICE as many fans as the NYS, in what was probably a smaller area. Whether it was safe, or if all the fans had a good view of the match are entirely different matters!
I like the NYS though, and we can't go back to Millmoor or the DVS anyway. Only criticism is that, in retrospect, the NYS should have been a bit bigger

Some great memories of Millmoor, but it was of its day, not fit for purpose as they say now.
NYS is, for me, exactly right - right size, right location, great views, and fairly pleasing on the eye.
Nostalgia isn't what it used to be .....
In the 80s and early 90s Millmoor was actually deemed one of the better lower league grounds. Unfortunately as smaller clubs got new grounds or their current stadia modernised Millmoor became more and more of an embarrassment. The final straw was the absolute shambles of Millers05, we couldn't even finish building 1 f@cking stand!!!
Having said all that it did work to our advantage under the Ronnie years at this level, the big boys hated coming and the old girl was probably worth 6-9 points a season to us.
Nowadays coming to the NYS must be totally undaunting, it's that good a stadium.
Some of your comments Animal not called for, sounds to me that you still hold a grudge.
I’m sure we have all encountered horrid away grounds Animal.
I loved Millmoor, it had its problems like NYS which I also love.
Two great grounds in two different era’s
It's not a grudge mate , Oakwell wasn't exactly great back in the day and hardly welcoming for visitors .
Just giving you the away fan view and the problems encountered down millmoor lane in the early 80's for visiting fans .
Going on arrests per attendance we have some of the worst fans in english football so I can't exactly criticise .
It was horrendous down millmoor lane if you brought a large away following .
I've heard Sheffield United and Wednesday fans talk of similar experiences of Millmoor Lane back in the day.
However the Swansea incident came about from their fans lobbing bricks, coins and bottles into the uncovered area from outside the ground. It all went a bit wild when they got their missiles returned to them, the police horses waded in and unfortunately someone got killed.
It was a poorly lit tight squeeze, a death trap as animal put it. And it turned out to be just that.
Still SYP see no problem in cramming 8000-9000 people onto narrow Don Street all at the same time after certain games. A poorly lit narrow Lane next to a river.
