CT, your knowledge in this sphere is very impressive: remind me never to cross swords with you on popular music! Have you ever come across either Boo Hewerdine or Darden Smith? I walked into HMV on Oxford Street in 1989 and these guys were performing live to promote an album called Evidence which featured among other tracks Under the Darkest Moon. I was so impressed I bought the album. Would love to see them live although I don't think they work together now.

Thanks all, for a very enjoyable thread. Nothing wrong with a little indulgent wallowing in Rotherham's past and the music scene that gave it a soundtrack...
Thanks to it, I will shortly be the owner of a Rotherham Twist Club membership card which may or may not once have belonged to Dinky Dawson. I like that!
The ins and outs of music in the second half of the twentieth century is definitely a hobby and a passion for me and it's been great to share it with such knowledgable Millers colleagues.

Here is a bit more nostalgia form back when the town was flooded with Northern Soulies like myself.
Good times.
After Wigan Casino closed Rotherham was the place to be, with more than 2000 people turning up to Clifton Hall on a regular basis.
Those were the days.

A Clifton Hall Favorite.
