Celtic were pretty poor today but sadly we do not have the players currently to take advantage
I blame McInnes for our defeat today because his insistence on 2 sitting midfielders hindered our attacking threat. May was sitting deeper than Wilson trying to plug the gap that was missing because Dodgy Del cannot have enough defensive cover. If we genuinely played with an attacking team we would have beaten Celtic...they are nothing special at all. Stevie May played decent today and covered a lot of ground but if he is playing he must get played in a genuine front two with a more attacking midfielder helping them out. Hurry back Scott Wright...he can provide something different from an attacking midfielder.

I forgot to add that we can forget about Forrester. He will be punted in January. It was glaringly obvious we needed an attacking midfield threat today but this lad is not trusted by McInnes. Our big summer signing has been a disaster unfortunately.

I get what you are saying but who would you actually play as an attacking midfielder given Wright is injured, as is Ferguson (although don't think he would be effective in that role), as you say Forrester is not up to it, McGinn is not playing good enough to play in that role, Shinnie, Ball and Gleeson are too defensive etc etc. The reality is that we don't have anyone to play that role so can't blame him for not picking a team with someone in that role today but you can certainly blame him for having an unbalanced squad. We are crying out for someone with creativity, but can't play someone that doesn't currently exist, but it so badly needs to be fixed in January.

It’s an interesting one, last season we had McLean and Christie who played as attacking midfielders.

If you go by the comments on here Christie was sh1te for his last 6 months here and McLean was apparently never good enough yet we still finished 2nd.

I also think it’s a bit over the top hoping Scott Wright is the answer for that position because he had a good game against St Mirren. He scored a hatrick against Partick then done phuck all after that, plus he is made of plasticine.

A huge part of why we finished second last season was Christie was very good in first half of season and when his form disappeared it coincided with McLean having probably his best spell in an Aberdeen shirt. Whether people want to admit it or not, we badly miss both players.

As for Wright, he always flattered to deceive playing wide but in the game and a bit (he was also good when he came on against Dundee) playing the "10" role he has looked much better. I agree it's too early to be sure especially given how poor St Mirren were that day but let's hope McInnes gives him a run in that position as there is only one way to find out if he is good enough. I do worry about your plasticine comment though.

You may have misinterpreted my comment as I was agreeing with you that I am worried he is very injury prone. He needs a good run in the team to both prove his ability and his resilience
