I am sure I read he had some "shortcomings" and you would think if he was bothered he would have been taken up by someone because he is a decent player by all accounts. If we could get him on a short-term contract with a view to longer term if both sides happy then he may be worth a punt.HOWEVER-you pay your money and you take your chance.

He was only released from his contract at Dundee six days ago so may be weighing up his options. Short term contract would be good idea, see how it works out, keep him with us until Jan and see where it goes?

How about this guy Nathan Cameron? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nathan_Cameron

Spent last few seasons at a lower level but has played in Championship before with Coventry, albeit six years ago. However he was 20 back then, has matured in lower leagues. Was on trial at Mansfield but picked up a knock, not sure how bad the injury was so that could be the big decider but this could be ideal for the Warne mentality. Short term contract again, back to fitness, cover at Championship level. At 26 could really be the chance for him to make something of his career?

Another free agent, Nedum Onuoha. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nedum_Onuoha

Not an up and coming youngster by any stretch, but a seasoned pro at Championship level, product of Man City academy and has played in Premiership for ten years. At 31 will still have something left in the tank. I can hear people screaming that his wage demands will be way out of our budget, but how much can free agents without a club for 2 months demand? (providing they aren't negotiating with whoever drew up the Blackstock deal! Lessons learned and all that). Again might be worth a punt on a short term deal tobe reviewed in Jan.

Roly - Spirites unofficial website is saying that Sam Hird has signed for Alfreton, so cross him off the list (probably crocked anyway). Hopefully Robertson, after playing for our reserves in midweek, is now not far from being fully fit.

Put Smith in at centre half and Proctor up front

I've heard dafter ideas. Then if Proctor starts to tire shove Smith back up front and use one off the bench that should confuse em.

Smith works extremely hard as a one man band alone up front but, I think Proctor offers that more aggressive in your face type centre forward. Putting those two up front together (which will never happen) would mean Vassall been left out but, he's too good of a player to leave out of the side also, who'd be a Manager? Nice for Warne to have three to pick from though.
