As a striker if you're not scoring then you should be making assists.

But he's got 1 goal and 1 assist in 14 games so he's not doing that either.

It's the same with Williams, you hear a lot about his work rate but what about his final ball and his finishing?

GF, read your own post again and you'll find you've answered it.

Smith 1 goal = No one playing close enough up front and supporting or laying off to him to score, so many runs made by him coming to nothing. His positional sense is very good but lacks complete support from midfield.

Smith 1 assist = No one up front enough with him to convert his multiple lay offs!

I tend to agree, Brin. Smithy is fairly similar to Revell, but we've not got anybody like Frecklington, Agard, or Dicko to finish off the chances. Need to find somebody like that in January, and TS might need to get his wallet out. If by doing that we avoid relegation, it will actually save us £millions.

If we only get one player in in Jan a goal scorer will keep us up even if it is a goal scoring midfielder. Start scouring the leagues now for the new Frecks at least is what I say.

Roly, thing is, it is that £10,000 a week player we now seek but that is way over TS's budget and it simply will not be sanctioned. Warne has to look deep and hard into this by the time the window opens and be fully prepared.

Take your point Brin it would have to be a lower league player and one who did not upset the wage structure. If I didnt think Frecks was crocked I would get him back!

Dicko hardly gets a game at Hull
    Cheeky loan bid in Jan?
    Relegation rival though

That hard earned point last night could turn out to be the most influential point we’ll earn all season. Nothing to do with mathematics but everything to do with what’s going on in the players’ heads. My only criticism of last night’s performance was how easily we gave the ball away when in good position and how too many simple passes went astray. We were just too rushed at times and that has to be a confidence thing.

I’ve always believed that, under Warne, performances would steadily improve as the season progressed and we saw that last night. Smith and Ajayi were at their brilliant best yet again…but the rest of the defence looked solid. One flappy punch from Rodak (as usual) but once he’d got that out of his system he looked unbeatable. You’d have needed an abacus to keep track of the corner count last night but I’ve rarely seen us defend so well under such sustained pressure.

Incremental improvement (as the man says) is the thing to look for and we saw that last night. I honestly think that there are better teams and sterner tests to come than Middlesborough, but if we were to play that game again in a couple of months against a similar Boro performance we’d probably win. Onwards and upwards.

Brin, I mentioned a lad on another thread called Jack Dunn. Started his career at Liverpool but didnt make the grade. He scored a hat trick against us for Morecambe in 216 in a cup game. He has played at England under 19 level but has now dropped down the leagues and is currently playing for Warrington Town.

The lad has talent but IMO has never been given the chance to show what he really can do. He is ideal for us at 23 years of age and could turn out to be another Freks given a chance. He is deffo good enough IMO and would cost peanuts.

If I was Warny I would be making big strides to get the lad to the club in Jan.

    UTM!
