Kieffer Moore isn't Ashley Ward , Ethan Pinnock isn't Arjan De Zeauw and Bradd Potts isn't Ronnie Glavin .

What we have is a young squad still learning and developing who try to play an attacking style of football and currently sit 3rd in the club 4 points off top spot with well over half the season to go .

The last time we were in such a good position at this level was in 1980/81 , the last two promotions from league one arose from scraping in to the play offs on the final day of the season .

I'm relatively happy for what it's worth .

If I may be offered the opportunity to present an alternative view I would suggest the following-----

The last time we were in the Third Division at this time of the season in late 2015 I was still drying out from gerrin p1ss wet through after standing on the open terrace at Altrincham as we lost 1-0 in the FA Cup during a run of eight straight defeats under pillaker Little Lee.
The shrewd Patrick Cryne (wait forrit ) had the wisdom to appoint Paul Heckingbottom ( wait forrit ) after Lee decided to p1ss off to Bristol and the rest is history. Like today all we were doing was beating Third Division sides with their generally inferior players but the move up through the league and gerrin into the Play Offs with a magnificent 4-1 win at the Champions was much more exciting than finding out on the way home in mid April that because so and so ed lost we were now promoted.
The two Wembley wins will stay in the memory, finding art we were technically now up as you walk away from the ground comes a poor second.
Give me 2016 anytime than grinding out 1-0's at ooam in October/November.

    Lets not rewrite history altogether
He appointed Hecky 4 months after Johnson had departed & he appointed Johnson over Hecky a year earlier
    Hardly shrewd SB more cheap
After working as a coach with Barnsley's Development Squad, Heckingbottom took caretaker charge after Danny Wilson was sacked by the club in 2015. He was again made caretaker after the departure of Lee Johnson to Bristol City in 2016.

Hecky also didn't back players he had final say on and farmed his whole midfield and anyone who could kick a ball in anger out on loan. Only to find later he had no fcukin midfield left. We ended up with Clubber 1 and 2 in the middle.

I'd have liked to have seen a Hecky team with Mowatt and Mcgeehan in middle or give Moncur free role last season.

We didn't though because sour puss ad' already said he dint believe in eskimos, easter bunny father christmas n' number tens.

He'd also shot his load saying they were all sh1te pre season.

    Total w ank pot.

I take this as good news Ponty, as he/Mowatt has been like a quality new signing for us this season. And its good that Stendel started the season with him, rather than constantly messing him about like Cam Mac & Moncur.
