It's obvious you are one of the "we don't like the result " brigade so let's do it again & you call that democracy
Your efforts would be better spent in getting on with Brexit as it's your sort who are "destabilising" by not accepting the result
The EU has increasingly taken over & the vote is to get back to the Parliament that you so obviously cherish so where's your problem?
What do you mean by culturally & economically poorer ?
The result is fine and as I understand it we will leave in March. But, if we leave without a reasonable agreement I think the outcome could be a total disaster. Factor in the Trumps protectionist policy and his destabilising of the established world order, Chinas expansionist programme, growth of India and Russia meddling on our doorstep, I seriously think it will be tough for a Britain without allies.

But, that said, all I'm doing is posting my thoughts on a message board that only a few people read. A bit dramatic to describe it as destabilising the country.

There you go again with your Kerrism's [I think I've just invented a new phrase so feel free to use it Madsters]

    I said this
Your efforts would be better spent in getting on with Brexit as it's your sort who are "destabilising" by not accepting the result

    Note I said "your sort"
But I will rephrase so you don't get confused again

Your efforts would be better spent in getting on with Brexit as it's those like you who call for a second referendum who are "destabilising" by not accepting the result

OK - Culturally - We take the low cost and freedom of travel for granted (it is unlikely to have evolved in this way with 28 separate countries).

As it stands we can book a flight with a low cost Irish airline to (say) Berlin for the weekend - we can book a summer holiday with a German travel company anywhere in the EU - can buy second home / investment / holiday properties anywhere within the EU and travel whenever we like - we can retire to the Med and live out lives out in the sun. While we do this all health care is covered. All this is done completely at our choice.

There is a scale depending on how hard / where we pitch Brexit that will jepardise all of the freedomd listed above. Do you think these are sacrifices worth making to achieve Brexit at any cost?

So it comes down to you being able to have your hols in an EU country without much effort as your reason for wanting to remain
There's a big world out there to have your hols or buy a 2nd home or retire to say the Caribbean or Florida
I think you may find that many people who bought properties in Spain were badly let down & it seems that being a member of the EU didn't help much when the proverbial hit the fan but all was well when buying

Just as an aside I was taken ill in Spain a couple of years ago & had to call on the sevices of a Doctor who would not accept my E111 card so I had to pay him directly {190 euros if I recall correctly} which my insurance company would not meet
Yes all's fine being in the EU

In my post I accepted the result (I said we leave in March - perfect easy English). I've not called for a second referendum. And still dont see that me posting on here does anything to the outcome.

On your point 'my sort' getting on with it. I run my own business that trades internationally and employs people in the UK. I get in with keeping those people employed every day.

What I find insulting is those that vote out and leave it to others to rake up the mess they've created. They ignore the real concerns of business leaders (companies like Honda and business groups like CBI) as scare mongering. Yet it is these very companies that will pick up the multi billions cost to make no deal brexit work (Im not in this bracket btw).

What is it exactly that you are doing?

Read all my posts and consider them together.

You asked me about Cultural and Economic. I headed this post Cultural - therefore it was my thought on the cultural aspects of being in the EU.

Spain property prices fell due to the global economic crash in 2008 that had its roots in US banking. It had nothing to with Spain being part of the EU. But explain how Spain could have dealt with it better as a non EU state.

At the same time remember Spain was a third world economy up to the mid 70s and now classified a 'high income economy'. Track its gdp economic growth since joining the EU (2008 economic crash aside). Much of the development is down to EU regional development grants into infrastructure in Med resorts (airports roads rail hotels and seafront) that we all enjoy.

Spain was a dictatorship until Franco died in 1975, the economy improved after that when they became more open to trade and tourism, they didn't join the EU until 1986.

The latest figure as at June 2018 of the unemployment figures for under 25 year olds in Spain is a disgraceful 35.54%. You quote a figure of over 10 years ago,my figures are up to date and accurate.Well done EU !!!!!
