It was an absolute disgrace, but you've got it the wrong way round.
As tax paying residents in Scotland , the English were and should have been allowed a vote.
The fact that the Poles were not allowed to vote in the EU referendum is an appalling example of how the English regard what they class as foreigners .
This Westminster government is a rule onto themselves move the goalposts regardless to suit their needs and to keep Scotland the cash cow they throw out figures about Scotland that are not true .
They don't have anyone above them checking the figures they release like you and myself .
But yet folk still vote for the union regardless I scratch my heed .
How weak can we really be. Whilst another country takes the pea.
You shouldn't need tricks to win a referendum. Did Cameron 'miss a trick' when he agreed to 16-17's being allowed to vote? Probably, judging by the voting patterns. But there was a lot of horse-trading going on during the negotiations so no point crying over spilt milk now.
Sometimes it is just the right thing to do, such as to allow those that pay their tax here to have a say on the future of the country. The EU referendum got it wrong as donsdaft has said but then they thought they had more than enough votes.

Nah
No trick missed there
They just proved that a vote for Scottish independence from Westminster wasn’t a vote for small minded insular nationalism.
An inclusive Europen country was what you were voting for
