LOL ---Vokes was not really involved in the first decision except for the strange interpretation. I do not know what constitutes offside any more and I don't think that I am on my own with this, in spite of being an official for over 40 years!
You are assuming that we would have scored the penalty too!
Haha ---apologies, sinkov! I misread your post because I was well aware that Vydra had been involved in both penalties --I will put it down to having had a very pleasant lunch outing to our local which had two hours of smashing jazz being played by a live band and some really nice Hobgoblin Gold available. Brain scramble ---I wonder why?
Was Vokes interfering with play or was VAR wrong?
This is the thing with VAR isn't it BT, whether was Vokes was, or was not, interfering with play or whatever they call it now, is all down to opinion. The ref and the liner can think one thing, the studio muppet can think differently, so VAR cannot solve the problem, there is no definitive answer.
With the Vokes incident on Saturday there was no problem, the ref gave the penalty, the liner was happy Vokes wasn't interfering, Barnsley had accepted the decisions, everything was going swimmingly then up pops the VAR muppet and causes uproar and confusion. I said before the World Cup that VAR will cause more problems than it will solve, I just wasn't expecting to be proved right sitting there at Turf Moor, watching the farce unfold live in front of my eyes. But it won't happen again.
They won't bin it though, they'll persevere no matter the mayhem it causes. That's just the way football's run, by idiots.
I have to agree, sinkov. I am pleased that I witnessed the whole farce with my own eyes because if somebody had tried to explain what had happened I probably wouldn't have believed it!
Interestingly, all the VAR reviews at the matches this weekend were not reviewed by the actual referee at the game ---I thought that the final decision was supposed to be down to him whenever VAR was used! Something else that I must have got wrong!
