An old workmate had a hankering to live in Australia, he visited quite a few times, he had relatives or friends there. In 1998 he emigrated there with his family. He was 58 then.
They lived in New Zealand for three years just outside Christchurch, which qualified them to move to Aus.
He came back a couple of times and told me i would love it there with the wildlife. I haven't seen him for over ten years. He would be shaking 80 now.

I am surprised America hasn't adopted it because they would have plenty of time to chin wag between deliveries, (Americans also like to shout very loudly and point at things.)
The only thing more boring than cricket on tv is cricket on Radio.

Football, Boxing and Rugby. Those are the real sports played by real athletes, the rest can go in the bin.

Hey i wouldn't mind seeing the Roman Arena make a comeback, that would be fun.
I would love to see the athletic cricketers have a go in there.
'55 you should come with me to my grandson's cricket training sessions and see the lads face up to the bowling machines cranked up to high speeds, last Thursday they were facing balls thrown at them with a Roboarm feckin greased lightning it was. Some of them got hit but never moaned or groaned,, just dusted themselves down and faced up again, so you see '55 it is like a Roman Arena and our young lads come through pretty damn good.

The gym training is very strenuous as to play a sport for 6 hours day in and day out takes stamina far beyond the 90 minute 'dash' that is football.

Talking of players squealing like stuck pigs when they get a slight knock and doing the perpetual roll...does that remind you of any sport that you go and watch every week.

Incidentally my grandson has been told he will be playing Leicestershire 2nds cricket this year, another step up the ladder.

A Stourbridge lad and also a very decent footballer played for Leicestershire in the 90’s and I believe he’s now on the coaching staff at Leicestershire GLM.

    Phil Whitticase former whicket keeper?

Good mates with one of my best mates and played for a very good local Sunday league team called Norton who were managed by football agent and former Pro Colin “Flash” Gordon who now owns Kidderminster Harriers FC.

    Does he coach your grandson?

No Mick, Phil Whiticase left a few years ago after 31 years as player and coach. Paul Nixon is the new head coach assisted by some very good coaches all taking an active hands on approach. I like it when Nixon is there as he is left handed like my grandson.

I find Nixon to be very annoying.

Far too gobby behind the stumps and “Mr Cliche” when doing punditry.

Loved himself a bit too much in my opinion.

Agree Mick but in the coaching sessions he absolutely buzzes.

These guys must be super fit in their own way. As a batsman one mistake and it's all over. Concentration levels to bat for hours must be phenominal. As a batsman does your lad get any help on how to concentrate?
And the wear and tear for bowlers with all those repetitive actions has got to be tough.
As for wicketkeepers how do they do it?

Saw a test where they fitted cameras to the helmuts of a top batsman and a No.11 and followed where they looking as they hurled down 85mph deliveries at them. The batsman was looking in front of the ball before it bounced and the bowler was looking just behind it.
    I thought it was interesting.
