They were both great sides, the title went right to the wire. Barnsley are historically better then us, but on that occasion, the underdogs triumphed.
Our candle burned briefly for 3seasons, because the foundations are build on sand. Barnsley have never really looked back. Maybe this new ownership will damage the club, maybe it will set up a bright future. We are just fans, all we can do is support and dream.

Its that time again Jock, do we as fans dare to dream when we're two thirds into the season. Where were the Millers at this time last year, was it all about the play offs or was top two still a possibility ?.

Seem to remember they were never in much danger of dropping out of the play off places acido but didn't really threaten Wigan , Blackburn and Shrewsbury either .

Ahh now you come to mention it Animal, I do remember now it was all about Wigan & Blackburn pulling away at the top wasnt it, and Shrewsbury were stuck in 3rd place for ages.

Our promotion in '16 was a never to be repeated season wasnt it, and if you had told me we were going up that season on Dec 1st (when we were bottom of the table), then Id have bought you another straight jacket.
So for me, our promotion hopes didnt really begin until April onwards when the top 6 became a real possibility.

To be honest though, I dont want the play offs this time because I dread the idea of losing in them, like in '00!!.

Don't let two random dingles come on here and pretend they could compete with the above. **** em. At that that time, we were the best. And I mean it. Our side was awesome,!!!
Its all about opinions of course Gk, and we're all entitled to our own. I kind of disagree with what you've said there but I do go along with the idea of 'bigging' up your team though.
And thats what Im doing as well when I say how brilliant I think we were in those days. We finished 6th at the end of season '81-2, and I would have fancied us to beat almost anybody at Oakwell in a play off home leg, where the atmos would have been red-hot (like it was that season when we beat Man City and took Liverpool all the way as well in the Lg Cup).

And over 46 games that made you the better side in 80/81 as difficult a pill that is to swallow even all these years later .

However 81/82 we had the edge so that more or less makes us even in my book .
