Agree with your logic Rross. however Islay is making a suggestion and there may be alternatives. Would a lower ST price deliver greater number of ST holders? I'm not so sure that there is a strong link between number of ST's sold and the price charged for them. I do think we are capable of getting higher attendances but that seems to me to depend on getting a much better home record.
I've been pleased with the improved performances since the closure of the January window but games against the OF and Hearts Hibs Aberdeen and now Killie seem more likely to be losses than wins. That leaves, Livi, St J, St M, Motherwell and Hamilton, whose combined away support is likely to be less than the OF and Aberdeen.
I wonder how the deal for 2 games went? It hasn't been repeated so I'd guess that perhaps it didn't improve the club's finances, however, who is to say what the result would have been if there had been no special price offer. what we need is numbers, and we need them now.
Seems to me that as a social activity going to football is falling down the list of priorities. The match day experience just has not been good enough to encourage going to Dens, BUT the atmosphere has been significantly better at the last two home games because the team has played with much more purpose and greater effect, so there are reasons to try to boost attendances and make sure that all ST holders actually turn up.
Three game packages could be an answer. Two category B games and one category A for £65 / £70. Two category A and one category B for £75 / £80. Help out those that can't stretch to the cost a season ticket or, like me, see its value eroded year on year due to increasing TV coverage and work commitments but might manage to get to some games every season. I'd probably prefer to buy a couple of those types of packages than a season ticket. Would allow the prices to be kept set as they are for away fans and to rip off the Old Firm scum.
I'm sure nobody wants the club to lose money because a game is chosen for TV but it would be good just for once if they put the fans first instead of always trying to maximize profits from loyal fans without even a nod in their direction.
Would a lower season ticket price sell more season tics......yes....
If you sell games in packages people will just swap from season tics to packages....we will sell less.
Price season tics at around £200/220/£240 for every adult and we would get an overall total of 5000, possibly more.
Too much plestering and tinkering at the edges.
I don't know why Dundee don't do a survey to find out from ex season tic holders and patg fans what cost of season tic would guarantee them buying one.....it shudnt be that difficult to do as fans are coming thru the turnstiles and with the database they will hold on ex season ticket holders.
Yes, what I'm proposing above would see me needing possibly three three match tickets per season along with one or two pay on the days so £220 would represent excellent season ticket value for me.
I dream of the day I can claim to be a coffin dodging crusty and pay that kind of money for a ST.
I know that's baiting me but I'll bite.
The subsidising of auld adults is fricking madness in this day and age.
For me to renew it has to be a radical reduction to try and get more people in too improve the atmosphere.....sick of subsidising auld folk and paying over the odds to sit in a ****e atmosphere.
I really don't see it being that difficult for the club to strike a balance to maximise people in the ground whilst trying to bring in the same level of income.....there must be a figure.
Other thing and it's a bit random and jiggery pokery but....what about a season ticket that's a bit dearer say 300 (if you went to every game)but you pay as you go, say monthly in advance but you only pay for what you use. So you pay say £30 a month in June, you get to see 2 home games in July, pay £30 in July get to see 2 home games in August.
Ie it's like a patg but you could call it a members ticket or some ****e like that but it keeps the cost for the home fan down whilst still charging away fans (especially the old firm) full whack and obviously our own pay on the day fans wud still have to pay full whack to comply with the law.
Problem is that budgets need to be set early, season tickets are bought in advance and the cash is in the club's coffers. Any delayed process for getting money into the club such as pay monthly for the following month's games risks fans just not doing it so the club would consider that as unbudgetable - actually just a watered down version of pay this season for next season's season ticket like the nutters over the road did. Imagine how many would have gone for a second or third month of McCann's performances - too easy to back out.
That's why any proposal for loyal fans to not pay a lump sum at the beginning of the season will fall on deaf ears at Dens. We think they might work but the reality is that the risk is a bit much for the club.
I would never bait you![]()
The scheme wudnt target current season ticket holders though.
We did still have too make buying a season tic the most financially rewarding for the support.
The pay as you go scheme is targeted at current patg who just can't afford or budget for a lump sum payment and those folk who don't go now as they are lapsed season tic holders and can't justify £24 to £30 per game.
4000 season ticket holders 2000 members is surely better than an ever dwindling over paying system we have now.
Where does it end 500 folk paying £700 per season.
