I believe it was said mainly as a criticism of his own team in that they didn't adapt sufficiently to counter our style

As such I think Paul Warne is being unnecessarily sensitive. He can be forgiven for that since he is under immense pressure from all sides, and he is usually pretty calm and rational - I just think he got this one wrong.
