Prior to moving to Islay in 2005 I had given up playing golf at Downfield on a Saturday or Sunday as it was taking over four hours to complete 18 holes of golf. The main problem was that the members who were ‘slowcoaches’ did not think that they were slow and the women members were slow thanks to the high number of shots they had in a round of golf.
    Just over the water.

I won't name it in case they get into bother 're the penguin issue.

I've played a few times at downfield, good in the summer but meh in autumn winter.

Did downfield not have a rep for blackballing new apps in the eighties/nineties?

That must be Scotscraig at Tayport. The club secretary Barrie Liddle was previously Club secretary at Downfield GC hence the tie up with cheap reciprocal golf on both courses. Your club professional was a former junior member of Downfield GC.
I was a full member at Downfield GC in the eighties and nineties and there was certainly no blackballing of new members. They allowed ‘all and sundry’ to become members. We even had two former Dab players and a Dab Manager who were members.

Now this maybe an urban myth but I was told if you lived in the ardler multis you had no chance.

Accounts for 2017 show expenses of 3k including £1.5k to produce the accounts and provisions for further accountancy fees of £5.7k; £1.5k for a review of said accounts and £4.2k for a full audit of the previous year's accounts. So £3k for accountancy fees from year ending May 31 2017. All been documented on here before. At least it's only £2.5k now

Sorry Taintedice, I thought my post made it clear that the OP was terrific and I was supporting the comments made by Shaded. One would hope that a member of DFCSS supporting new initiatives that might change DFCSS would be a welcome contribution.

    Taintedice.
If this topic is to be no DFCSS members then the least we expect is for you to post correct information and not just make things up or post a pack of lies about DFCSS.
For the record the DFCSS annual accounts for the year ending 31st May 2018 have never been posted on the DFCSS website so there is no way that you can quote Accountancy fees when as a current non member you have never viewed the annual accounts.

I know that a number of Downfield GC members used to play at Drumoig during the winter months.

I see that you are a member at Drumoig and your annual membership fee includes 20% VAT which you would not have to pay if you were a member of a private members golf club. https://drumoiggolfhotel.com/membership/
