I think all his comments about providing top budgets and competing with others has been true whilst we,ve been in Div One.
Not so in the cship which requires a huge hike in funds.
He's also had his fingers burnt in the past with the crappy Forest wasters like Greg Halford, Kelvin Wilson and Dickstock

Animal makes a good point. Eight years ago we were playing in Sheffield in the forth tier.Seven season's later we are hanging on for our forth season in seven at our magnificent home. This represents the third most successful period in our history. I would have dreamed about being a yo-yo club on those trips to the Don Valley.
Talk all you wish about coaching and investment, the fact is we don't have a big enough following to sustain long runs at this level.

Correct Jocks. The Millers as a club have in my lifetime missed opportunities to get to the promised land. The missed penalty at Port Vale, letting terrific young players go in the 60's, letting the best football brain we ever had as a manager (Jack Mansell) go after one poor season, not keeping Porterfield, missing penalties the year after, not financing Ronnie when he was after players who ended up in the Premiership. Perhaps this is the reason why we can't average 9 thousand home support in a terrific stadium with a team of triers who give everything. We , as a collective just don't believe enough.

Perhaps there is a reason TS has not invested heavily this season. Perhaps he is still in a tangle with RMBC and English Heritage over that embarrassing monstrosity just outside the ground. Sort that out and maybe something can be built to put money into the club. Yes, he has made mistakes, but he is human, but he did save the club and he has also kept season tickets prices low again.

I am as frustrated as the next person and I would love us to have a bigger budget as I feel we have missed another opportunity. But the large lady is only walking to the microphone and I personally think that the thread heading is actually insulting to a man who has, no matter how you look at it, given us some great times as a Millers Chairman. We need 9 points! Up THE MILLERS. BELIEVE!!!!!!!

    Not keeping Porterfield?

Bigger club, more money, it must have been a hard decision for Porterfield to make,

Wendun, everyone's entitled to their opinion, but you really are a c*ck of the highest order.
I honestly don't know why follow the Millers, if you actually do, seriously what would make you happy ?

I didn't ask him to become owner/chairman and would not give a toss if he left tomorrow. .
To be fair to Stewart he didnt go looking for RUFC. He had no agenda to go looking to football to raise his profile like some jumped up businessmen. RUFC went to him cap in hand to request his help.

But Stewart has been his own worst enemy with past comments regarding his ambitions for the club, top budgets, wanting to shop at Harrods etc etc.
We can all dream. I heard the same comments as you but I process the information different. I read it as a guy dreaming out load rather than a statement of fact. Therefore I am prepared to cut him some slack.
