We will be back.....
I've tried to get my head around this season. I've been objective, subjective, given players leeway, been harsh, sad, happy etc etc just like everybody else on here.
Regardless of the opinion, everybody is thinking the same thing, but the unthinkable is now almost a reality. I care, you care, most fans care. That's why we get a mixture of emotions and comments ( a minority of which are probably a bit too out of order) on here. I say that in reference to vitriolic comments and things that are personal towards staff and players, which I don't think are acceptable regardless of how pissed off you are. Nobody should be subjected to that, it doesn't matter how much you get paid or whatever your job is, it's not acceptable. That's a different thread though, so apologies for digressing.
Anyhow, We're all here for the same reason. We all love this club and just want a 'normal season', if that exists? . A season where it looks like we're not in trouble, without going through the process of having multiple managers and a plethora of off field problems. Thats all Notts County has felt like for ****ing ages......it's frustrating and quite frankly ****ing boring. Just give us somet. We've been in the crap for years. I don't want successive promotions in 3 years, I just want us to be respectable, solid and REALISTIC! FFS!!! Most other clubs seem to manage being ok, its not ****ing rocket science . Sometimes it feels like we're cursed, "oh that's just Notts again".
Anyway. I've accepted that we need a bloody miracle on Satutrday, and do you know what, I don't care if we go down now, it might even be the making of this club. On the other hand, it could get worse and we
could be totally ****ed. Some people say, well, if you get relegated, at least it can't get any worse, but it can cos we're Notts. I'm rarely negative, but this season has just finished me off. I've been supporting Notts since I was 3 years old ,( I'm nearly 40 now) and can never remember such a pile of utter shyte of a season.
We deserve to go down, our goal difference is terrible , we're **** and we've got loads of stuff to sort out. Let's just accept that maybe, just maybe, this relegation could be the best thing that's happened to us in years.
Signing off, lost all hope. Sorry.
We will be back.....
I fear the Goal difference will be our undoing. I can see us winning at Swindon. Sadly I can also see Macc and Cambridge grinding out a 1-1. Then I wont be able to sleep for days due to John Stead's penalty miss against Bury doing a loop in my head.
i feel the same way, we need to end the nonsense and have a solid couple of seasons rebuilding, sadly there is a slight arrogance about us as a club that we've been in the doldrums for a long time and we're a bigger club than our league position suggests, which i expect to carry into next season where we'll be expected to romp a conference that is very difficult to get out of , inevitably we'll start to look like we're failing after 6 months and we'll bin the manager and bring in some more over paid has beens to get us out of the league and we'll repeat this over and over as we slip further and further towards another relegation and extinction
Financially the (new?) owners have one season to have a push at buying their way to non league success with an efl solidarity/parachute payment which is more than many of the other teams annual turnover and a solid fanbase of 5-6000 if that fails we have to take a step backwards to take two forwards
my worry is we'll be a big draw for all of the non league and league two has been mercenaries next year as we'll inevitably be installed as one for the favourites for promotion in august and we'll have an inflated overpaid squad with little to no desire much like the one we have now
The thing is, based on our history, fan base, and stadium, our club really should be playing a division higher than we are now, not a division lower. I know that sounds arrogant to fans of clubs that have no real past success to shout about, but it's true. It's not just Notts fans that say it either - it Macc were to get relegated, you wouldn't get many articles banging on about how shocking it is that they've dropped into the fifth tier.
Of course that doesn't detract from the fact that we fully deserve to be relegated from the football league this year, due to the amateurish way the club has been run for years. And I agree that our 'big club' status will not benefit us down there. Teams will raise their game against us.
One more thing: despite us being a relatively big club down there, I don't think anyone expects us to romp our way to promotion next year - at least not anyone I've spoken to.
The bookies will have us as odds on favourites from day 1,much like this season that draw will attract the mercenaries i hope im wrong and we build a playing squad sensibly and dont panic or rush out for 'big' names without checking them out first, remember starting this season and seeing we had kane and dennis up front and vaughan in the middle even i the eternal pessimist got a little excited and thought we'd rip up league 2
i think most notts fans are realists even those who are hoping against hope we'll pull off a miracle at the weekend know deep down we're playing at bromley next season and not bradford
What ifs, buts, maybe, "reading" high brow books that few of us understand. What is going on? Can you analyse too much. Obviously. Find something else to whittle about. It's football. We're still in with a shout. COYP.
