Not someone I’m inclined to take much notice of I’m afraid but beyond that I can only agree...there is so much wrong with the World and, as ever, so little that the ‘man in the street’ can do about it but it’s Trump, Putin, the Chinese and those who obsessively put profit before the damage being done to the planet that we should be most wary of...not the EU...imo.

Yes, Joe Public has had an enormous and unprecedented impact on domestic and European politics via the 2016 Referendum, but has it been remotely beneficial and is it not likely that there would be an enormous overlap between many Farage/UKIP/Brexit supporters and those who support Trump and deny climate change?

I don’t. Nor is it up to me to do so. I guess because there is no language barrier and because we are considered significant allies then it is more shocking to find such an individual in charge of a country we can all identify with. Beyond that I don’t disagree with what I think you are implying.

Its not what they will achieve that bothers me (I mean the trump one), its whats in peoples' minds, and you may be right that its to do with the shock of variance from normal expectations.

There was a week of mass demonstration against the prosecution of soldiers for acts carried out during the troubles, despite freedom being granted for terrorists. What's on people's minds is what's highlighted in mainstream media. Its terrible for lions to be hunted, but nobody cares about the mass murdered and critically endangered vultures. Meadowland habitat is the fastest declining natural habitat, but people are happy to complain about rainforest deforestation whilst crying out for new local primarks to be built.

I am more aware of David Icke than I might have been, simply because I am friends with one his sons and know the rest of the family. Strangely enough I have not met the man himself nor his 2nd wife but have met the first.

Some of his outpurings do stretch the mind more than a little to put it mildly. However, the number of things he has predicted that have already come true, is quite astounding. He is one of those who predicted which countries would be next on the US hit list some 20 odd years ago. One by one, they have either been attacked or, in the cases of Iran, North Korea and Venezuela, they are well down the path to invasion. The only thing stopping him invading NK now is China. Venzuela is being attacked from within and, IMO, The USA is behind it. Iran has seen the Nuclear Deal torn up by Trump and the lies about Iran from the US are stacking up nicely.

He has too many "direct hits" to be dismissed as a fool.

What? You mean people can’t be trusted with complex decisions and are far too easily influenced by those who ‘own’ the media, Adi?

Sorry MA...I’m not being disrespectful and I’m sure the Ickes are perfectly pleasant people.

I used to like him as a sports presenter but the whole ‘Son of the Godhead’, only wearing turquoise (not my colour) and ‘reptilian bloodline’ theory were all a step too far for me.

He didn’t, imo, predict anything that wasn’t entirely predictable to anyone with any semblance of political awareness.
We all make ‘predictions’ many of which come to fruition and many of which don’t.
Amongst David Icke’s less famous predictions are that the World would end in 1997, there would be a hurricane in Derry, an earthquake in the Isle of Arran, LA would become an island and New Zealand will disappear.

I’m still waiting and in the meantime I suspect he’s done quite well out of his numerous books, DVD’s and lectures.

Back to reality and returning to topic...maybe he could tell us all how Brexit is to be resolved. I predict more Government paralysis, lots of arguing, a period of disharmony including rioting in the streets during the warmer months and the eventual emergence of a new national leader involving disappointment for some bloke with a mop of unruly blonde hair who shares his initials with a rather delightful ***ual act. Some, maybe all, of that will come true...doesn’t make me the ‘son of the Godhead’ and you’ll never see me in turquoise.

She says..... You cannot call yourself a democrat and advocate ignoring or overturning the referendum result simply because you don’t like it. If this were to happen, I think it would set a very dangerous precedent in British elections. Democracy means accepting the views of the majority, whether you agree or not.
