    Compare our promotions

Somebody suggested to me the other night that this season still isnt as good as the Lg One promotion from 3 years ago, or maybe even isnt as good as the Lg One promotion from 13 years ago (under Andy Ritchie).
And surely the obvious connection there is that both of those seasons were promotion via the Play offs!.

Yes thats all well and good isnt it etc, but I still say that this season has been the best one because of our unbeaten home record, and the fact that we've been in the top 6 all season, and we've always maintained a great relationship with our manager/coach and have never wanted him 'out'.

The chance of the Lg One title is still on of course, but the pressure is now off and we should enjoy this regardless of what happens in the last game on Satdy.

And speaking of the Play offs, what if they had been around in season 81-82 eh ?, which was our first season back in what is now the Champship division of course. I would have fancied us to challenge anybody at the time, and Oakwell was a bit of a fortress wasnt in those days. Didnt we finish 6th that season, which would of course have meant a Play off place by todays rules.

Roma, this thread was meant to be about our promotions from Lg One, which is why I mentioned those seasons especially.
Of course the promotion to the Prem was the best, but thats not the issue here is it.

They were all good and I've great memories but, I don't know, this one seems special. The broken records, the unbeaten at home, the clean sheets, the chance of being champions, it being automatic and proving we're the best in this league without the uncertainty of the play of lottery, the new manager virgin to the English game and from Germany too. It's all added up to make this a great promotional season and I think the best apart from the one to the Prem.
