The right-wing populist Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) performed worse than expected - projected in exit polls to win 10.5% - improving on its first results in 2014.
So the AfD increase their vote but the Christian Democrats and SDU didn’t, to the BBC that’s worse than expected
They similarly glossed over Le Penn’s support in France, calling that lower than expected, hardly mentioning Macron’s failure.
Ditto elsewhere that didn’t follow the BBC “values”
