This little gem is how the BBC reported the German results

In Germany, both major centrist parties suffered. Angela Merkel's Christian Democrats dropped from 35% of the vote in 2014 to 28%, while the centre-left Social Democratic Union fell from 27% to 15.5%.

The right-wing populist Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) performed worse than expected - projected in exit polls to win 10.5% - improving on its first results in 2014.

So the AfD increase their vote but the Christian Democrats and SDU didn’t, to the BBC that’s worse than expected

They similarly glossed over Le Penn’s support in France, calling that lower than expected, hardly mentioning Macron’s failure.

Ditto elsewhere that didn’t follow the BBC “values”

The worrying thing for me so far from this election (Brexit apart) is the upsurge of far right parties and then you have Trump in America and all the antisemitic talk of what is happening inside the Labour party.

I hope I am wrong but the last time politics went this way there was a war that followed it.

From this and other similar studies, I would imagine:

I've always been impressed that 5% of UKIP voters voted Remain.

I think you use the term "studies" rather loosely eg

Over-65s were more than twice as likely as under-25s to have voted to Leave the European Union

We have now weighted our final poll to match the headline result, and the detail within it gives the best possible indication of how Britain actually voted last Thursday.

I've always been impressed that 5% of UKIP voters voted Remain.
    That says it all

I can't remember turnout numbers but wasn't there about 2-3 million more votes in the EU referendum than in the 2015 election? Which party have they classified those people as voting for?

This study also suggests that Labour would be better off getting of the fence to the Remain side:

Why brexit aside. Brexit is the oxygen behind it.
