Villa broke the Financial Fair Play rules

Looks like they have done a Leicester and Bournemouth, break the rules and get a small fine. But this time the EFL are pushing for a points deduction in the Premier league. tHe cheated in the playoffs and cheated to get there.

I find it ludicrous that you can cheat your way to promotion.

It cannot be right that if a club like Villa can break the rules to the extent that if they’d failed to go up they’d be facing life next season in the Championship on minus however many points but be going up everything is okay!

Utter b o l l o x that they avoided being penalised during the season like Blues were and that at best they don’t start in the Prem on minus 12 points.

    The whole thing stinks.

I don't know the whys and wherefors of the situation but if what you say is correct mick, then yes, they should have been penalised during the season like Birmingham. I have to admit that there are inconsistencies when dealing with matters such as this and also the discrepancies when players appeal against bookings. Look at the situation with Gayle, Lawrence and Grealish. They all looked extremely similar to me but different outcomes.

It’s disingenuous that the Prem and the
Champ are allowed to class themselves as different jurisdictions in effect in these situations.

If a player is sanctioned for whatever offence when he’s in the Champ it doesn’t get wiped out if they get a transfer to the Prem.

    It’s just pathetic!

Yeah i have read about this earlier in the season.
If they had failed to gain promotion they would have been in serious trouble, but being as they went up they will get away with it.
They gambled everything on going up, i think Wolves did similar last season.
I sometimes wish we had an owner who would gamble a bit. Playing by the rules hasn't done us much good.

Surely, if this is correct, then Championship clubs could take out (jointly) a High Court action. They won’t/don’t so the credibility of this might be somewhat dubious?

I did read that within the Recon group are seperate divisions and our stadium ownership has moved from one to the other which will certainly be scrutinised. The whole FFP thing is a mess, totally understand why it was introduced in the first place but when you look at the big money purchases made in the PL and the amount of debt being moved around, holding companies being created to service that debt the whole thing stinks.

Villa did gamble massively in the first season with huge buys and the parachute payments were there to help finance them, since then we've been relatively frugal and with the TV money/year 3 parachute payment being so low vs massive wage bills (Micah Richards FFS) done us in.

Why did Birmingham get whacked then, and Villingham quite simply didnt, and they wont of course ?.
It angers me that Brighton and other clubs can rack up so many debts just to earn that all elusive place in the Prem, and the so called FFP rule (financial fair play) was not only ignored, it was totally thrown in the bin. It really is a case of one rule for one or two etc, and the rest of us have to like it or lump it!.

Trouble is the punishment takes place the season after the event.
If Villa had not got promoted they would be facing points deductions like Blues next season.
The fact clubs can leave this punishment behind with them when they get promoted is a disgrace.

That's OK, they can deduct the points from them when they are back in the championship season after next.
